Claudia felt she was unworthy of Nathan considering his identity.
Her presence would hold him back, and so, she thought it best to leave so it wouldn't become an issue later.
For someone like Nathan, he deserved so much better.
Meanwhile, Nathan could understand that the change was a bit too abrupt.
He was so focused on proving his identity that he hadn't taken into account the fact that Claudia might not be able to adapt.
Even he found it difficult to adapt to the authority. He had sometimes talked more of Claudia, who had never even dreamed of such a grand thing.
Aware that what she needed was assurance, Nathan took her hand in his own and remarked. “Do you remember what I said at the convention venue?”

“I didn't lie about any of that. In my eyes, you
