Georgia crossed her arms, watching quietly.
“So this is what it feels like to try again.”
Her voice was soft, almost as if she was unsure.
She turned around and looked back at the desk, at all the notes she had written.
“I’m not the same girl I was,” she said, reassuring herself.
Then her phone buzzed again. She checked it. A text from her dad.
“Hope you're not slacking. Make me proud.”
Georgia smiled, typed back a short reply.
“I’m on it.”
She placed her phone on the table, then pulled her ponytail loose and walked toward the bed.
“Just five minutes,” she whispered, falling face-first onto the covers.
She closed her eyes and within minutes, she fell into the deep calm embrace of sleep. She felt tired and needed to rest and her body obliged.
