“I believe you.” Georgia’s tone was calm but warm. “And remember, this isn’t about proving anything to them. Just focus on doing your best.”
Lily was quiet for a second. Then she said, “You didn’t have to help me right now, you know. Especially not with everything you’ve got going on.”
“I didn’t help you as a favor,” Georgia replied. “I helped you because I see something in you. And because I knew you wouldn’t waste it.”
On the other end, Lily gave a small, shaky laugh. “I won’t. Thank you again, Georgia. Really.”
“Good.” Georgia glanced at her screen. “Now go shine. I have three more emails to reply to before lunch.”
Lily chuckled. “Got it. I’ll let you work. Bye!”
“Bye, Lily.”
She ended the call and stared at her phone for a beat, thoughtful.
