I couldn't take the silence between us while Aki was driving me home. I wanted to ask him about Angi and I couldn't help it.
"What's with you and Angi?" I asked when we stopped at a red light. He turned over to me with a confused look. Wait, why? Did I assume things when there was really nothing going on between them?
"What do you mean?" He countered back. His eyes were on the lights while waiting for them to turn green.
"Nothing. It's just that I think something's going on." I shrugged. If he wanted to tell me then he would have a long time ago.
"She's a friend." His voice was soft but he said that as if he wasn't even convinced.
"She's my friend too and I care about her as much as I care about you." I knew he wasn't asking for my opinion but I wanted him to know where I stand.
