Chapter 5

Sage’s POV

I was getting ready to shut my locker when a fist collided with it making me scream and flinch. I looked over to see that the fist was attached to a grinning Zach. I shook my head at him as I grabbed my bag.

“Where’s Lex at?” I asked Zach while standing on my tippy toes looking over the heads of some of the other kids.

“She had to run to the library to get a book for her research assignment.” Zach stated. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see Tyra.

“What?” I asked harshly not even caring that Zach was giving me a weird look. She shrunk back a little then looked at me like I was a horrible person.

“How dare you hiss at the Alphas mate, who may I add is pregnant. I bet you think you have balls just wait till later tonight I will make your life a living hell.” She hissed so lowly that only me her and Zach could hear. She turned and stomped off down the hall and right into my brothers’ arms. I cringed and turned away.

“Wow. You just told off the Alphas Mate. You know you’re going to get it.” I shook my head and almost jumped for joy when I see a little black haired head coming towards me.

“Hey you guys imp sorry it took longer to find the book then I thought it would. Oh and Sage I imp sorry you complimented me and I completely ignored you. Thank you for saying you liked my amazing pink eyes.” I laughed at her as she batted her eyelashes.

“How about we go get into this guy’s car and go get some movies before heading back to my place.” They nodded their heads eagerly. When we turned around we all seen Josh and Tyra sucking face. I wanted to curl up on the floor and cry my eyes out. But fortuniently for me Zach noticed my discomfort and put his arm around me.

“I’ll protect you from the bitchy wolf.” I laughed causing Tyra and Josh to pull away and look at us. Zach had his arm wrapped around my waist. Lex was on my other side and when she seen them staring she stopped me and moved Zach’s arm so she could jump onto my back. So by the time we walked past them I had Lex on my back piggy back style and Zach’s arm draped around my shoulders while Lex tried to bite him. Luckily he kept slapping her every time she tried.

By the time we made it to Zach’s big Black truck I dropped Lex on her ass and climbed into the passenger seat just ready to go home and cry my eyes out.

“Let’s go get movies!” Lex screamed as she hopped in the back.

Zach climbed in and started the 10 minute drive to the movie store. The truck hadn’t even stopped moving before Lex jumped out and ran inside. Me and Zach just shook our heads and laughed at the girl. When we got inside she had 3 movies already in her arms.

“I want these ones. PLEASE!” She ha ‘the lucky one”, ‘Puss in boots’, and ‘The Act of Valor’.

“Oh kay but that’s all.” Zach and I laughed. He went and picked out the cronichals and I got ‘The Woman in Black.

“Really your gunna be so scared.” Zach said as I waited for the guy to finish with the movies.

“That’s why she has you. Duh.”Lex ran by us and said. Zach looked at me before grabbing Lex and pulling her to the back seat of the truck and buckling her in.

“That will be 29. 99.” I handed the guy his money before grabbing my movies and walking out. Zach was now perched on the hood of his car smoking a cigarette. He handed it out to me and I took it instantly.  

“I got you something else but you have to wait till we get to your house.” I nodded.

“I need to finish this first. My parents don’t know I smoke.”

: You’re lucky then.”

Right when I was going to ask Lex yelled she wanted to watch puss in boots. Zach and I jumped into the truck and I gave him directions to my house. When him and lex seen their mouths dropped.

“You live in the alphas house.”

“Yeah imp their daughter.” I basically spat the words.

“They have a daughter?”

“My point exactly they hate me I hate them.” They nodded their heads as they looked at the mansion in front of them.

I walked into the house to see Tyra and Josh sitting in the living room watching some parenting show. Of course.

“I guess we will have to watch these in the theater room. Fallow me.” I turned to see Josh watching us.

“Sage can I talk to you?” He asked and I wanted to pull my hair out. I was trying to stay away from him and he just kept coming to me.

“Sure. You guys fallow the stairs down and you’ll see it. Lex gets first movie.”

JOSHS POV

“Sure. You guys fallow the stairs down and you’ll see it. Lex gets first movie.” I was shocked she was actually gunna talk to me. I watched as she turned her smiling face to me. As soon as she turned my way the smile dropped and it turned into a scowl.

“What do you want?” She all but hissed. I nodded for Tyra to leave and sat down on the couch. She continued to stand scowling at me.

“I want to apologize for how I have been acting.” Or so she thinks. I know imp going to piss her off but I have got to know.

“Really?” She obviously didn’t believe me. I nodded.

“What do you really want Josh. I know when you’re lying to me. You should also know that I hate being lied to. So either ask me your true question or imp walking and next time I won’t talk to you when you ask me to.”

“You can’t do that imp your Alpha.” I growled standing up.

“I know who you think you are, but you will never be my alpha. Nor will you ever be my brother. Or my mate.” She whispered.

“IS that what this is all about? Us not being able to be mates.”

“You never claimed me meaning imp not yours. Don’t think for a second that I will ever let you close enough to ever claim me.”

“Just tell me one thing, do you like that guy.” I asked her and I could see the anger flash in her eyes before she began to shake. Uh oh.

“Piss off. It is none of your business who I like nor who I am dating or want to date. MY love life is MY love life. You will never be a part of it and I don’t care who the hell you think you are but you can’t tell me what to do or who to like. You can say you the all-powerful alpha but guess what. I don’t care alpha just means a guy with a big ego who can rule and you could barely rule our old forts. Why do you think you have changed now?” She was shaking so bad I thought she was going to shift right then and there. Instead I did the impossible. I reached out and kissed her.

I felt the sparks shoot through me starting at my lips and ending at my toes. She didn’t respond but that it didn’t stop me from deepening the kiss. My hands snaked around her holding her waist and the back of her neck bring her closer to me.  Suddenly she shoved me with more might then I thought she had. She punched me before laughing evilly and looking down on me.

“f**k you. Go kiss your fiancé and stay the f**k away from me.”

Sages POV

“f**k you. Go kiss your fiancé and stay the f**k away from me.”I used my most menacing voice.  I turned and walked down to the theater room looking for everyone. Suddenly I was tackled to the floor and had a finger on my lips silencing me. I looked up to see Zach staring back at me.

“What’s going on?” I whispered and he just shook his head helping me up and leading me to the stairs. Plopping down and pulling me with him.

“LEx is on a sugar high and wont calm down so imp hiding.” I laughed as he shook his head. Lex walked by and was eating a lollipop bigger than her head. “Hmm where are they?” She walked back towards the chairs and plopped down letting out a huge sigh.

“Let’s just go watch the movie maybe she will crash.” We walked down the stairs and she literally jumped into Zach arms bridal style and kissed his cheek.

“I wuvz you Zachy kins.”

I laughed walking over to the closet and pulled a about 5 blankets and ten pillows down. I made a bed for all of us and looked at Zach motioning for him to put Lex down. He plopped her down on one of the sides as I slipped Puss in boots in the DVD player. Zach getting the lights.

“Lay down next to her please I can’t deal with her anymore.” I lay down next to Lex and laughed as she snuggled into me and I covered both of us up. Zach lay down next to me grabbing some of our blanket. He nudged my foot bout half way through the movie and nodded at Lex. I looked over and she’s passed out. When I turned back to him he had a bag of blue and pink cotton candy. I smiled so brightly.

“Thank you so much. I love Cotton Candy!” I jumped on him giving him a huge hug before kissing his cheek. He chuckled and we sat back up to finish the movie. Lex passed out in a little ball next to me. Zach was sitting up with his arm wrapped around me as I ate my cotton candy. Every once in a while he would steal a little piece and shove it in his mouth acting as if he didn’t steal it. If he got caught he would point to some random object and say it was their fault.

The last thing I remember was lying on Zach’s chest while he was snoring slightly. Lex was laying her head on my side as I snuggled further into Zach’s warmth.

 He may not be my mate, but I wish he was.
