"Don't worry, she's here." Carrie turns toward me in her human form; her face pale. "Do you see what he's done to her?" Abigail shakes, her voice is too loud. She skims Charlotte from head to toe with her hands. I shift back into my human form. "I know you're upset, but we don't want to make a lot of noise." It's got to be hard to see your kid like this but we can't lose our common sense. I turn my attention to Charlotte and almost choke on my words. "We're going to get him back for all this." "You promise?" Charlotte's voice is raspy but strong and she stares directly into my eyes. "I need to hear you say it." "Char..." Abigail startles and places a hand on her heart. "What's gotten into you?" This is why we need to save everyone from that pack. Her once-innocent eyes are now cold.
