She's never shifted. She is treated as a slave in her pack. Taylynn is 18. She found her mate but was rejected. He is the future of her pack, the Alpha's son Trenton. They were friends and morphed into lovers. Everyone thought they were made for each other. Taylynn would become Luna. That changed on her 16th birthday when Taylynn never shifted. She was shunned by her friends. No one wanted a wolfless Luna. Trenton remained steadfast in his decision to continue to date her, hoping that she was just a late bloomer. His father was unsure, but surely she would shift on her 18th birthday!

Taylynn's 18th birthday is here. She hopes and prays to the Moon Goddess that she shifts. She walks into graduation and smells sandlewood and pine. She is drawn to Trenton, who looks hopeful. They hold hands, Taylynn leaning into Trenton for support to get through graduation. However, all hopes vanish and prayers are left unanswered when the clock strikes midnight and she never shifts. Trenton looks disappointed, her parents do too. The Alpha looks at her with disgust. Trenton lets out a long breath, then rejects her right then and there. Taylynns heart shatters as she falls to her knees. The Alpha declares her a leper in the pack, marking her lower than an omega, a slave. Her parents turn their backs on her.

For the next 2 years, she is beaten, whipped with wolfsbane and silver, and cut with silver. Scars cover her back, legs, and arms. The Alpha ordered her to cover herself with long sleeves and pants at all times, while ordering the pack that her face and neck be left alone. That way, when guests come over and she serves them, they are none the wiser. Except for when the Alpha King comes to visit. He knows something is a miss. But he must play his cards right.

Taylynn is taken from her pack by the Alpha King Damon, to be a slave - or so she believes. She soon finds out that Damon is her second chance mate, but her mating to him isn't as it seems either. She always wondered how her parents could turn their backs on her so easily, the answers are soon revealed when she turns 21. She is promised to bring power and prosperity to her pack, and Trenton wants her back for the power.

Trenton joins forces with vampires, in an attempt to bring Taylynn back to him. But his plans go awry as he doesn't know everything surrounding Taylynn and who she is exactly and what she is promised to be by the Moon Goddess. Life is not always as it seems.
