The winter air filled my lungs as we stepped outside, the crisp bite of the morning sharpening my senses. The snowfall from the night before had been relentless, burying everything under a thick, glistening white blanket. Alek’s SUV was blocked by a mountain of snow, making it useless for our journey to the pack house. There was only one faster way—we had to shift and run.
I didn’t hesitate. “Your turn, furball,” I told Autumn, already bracing myself for the shift.
“Finally,” she purred before seizing control with an exhilarating rush. In the blink of an eye, we stood on four legs, our thick golden fur blending seamlessly with the snow. A shudder of pleasure ran through our body as Autumn stretched, flexing muscles built for power and speed.
