Maddie was angrily shoving clothes into a bag while I sat in my stupid wheelchair and tried to convince her we'd be okay, but she was ignoring me.
''Would you help?'' I asked my brother, who came out of our walk-in, and threw two bags on the ground.

Maddie dropped the dress she was holding and rushed out of the walk-in, looking frightened.
''What's wrong?' I asked, as I pushed the chair over to where he was standing and holding his hand.
