Chapter Eight: Off feelings

1177 Words
I heard my mate talking to another female at the door. "Wow, your house is so beautiful." The female said in a voice that was too cheery. I immediately did not like her. The pair rounded the corner and I came face to face with a very tiny ginger haired female who was annoyingly happy. Great. Another sunshine susie moved into the neighborhood. Becky was more than enough and now her. "Tessa, this is my mate Kovie. Kovie, their is our newest neighbor. Tessa. She made us cookies." I nodded in acknowledgment then caught Sasha just as she lost her balance. "Are you ok?" The female sounded genuinely concerned but there was something else in her voice. It sounded almost like guilt but maybe I was just being paranoid. "Yea I'm ok. I've been having some minor health issues lately but I'm fine." Sasha waved dismissively then made tea for all of us. Thankfully my wife's extremely loud Kelly walked into the house. "Waz up bitches. Who dis?" She looked shocked to see the strange female waving at her. She offered Kelly her hand and smiled. "Im Tessa. I just moved here." "Oh, you bought the haunted house. Cool." Kelly, then turned her attention to my wife, completely ignoring Tessa's out stretched hand, and lifted her shirt up to just under her breast. She rubbed her growing pregnant belly with the other hand. "Guess what?" She said in a sing-song voice. Sasha squealed with joy and hugged Kelly. "Oh my goddess I had no idea that you and Dax were so serious." Just the mention of my brother's name made my skin crawl and me growl. Kelly kinda looked sad by my reaction but understood. There was a lot of bad blood between my dear twin and I. "I'm happy for you Kelly, truly, I just.." She looked at me with an understanding smile. "It's your turn. Im only two months along so you need to catch up." She gently smacked my mate's torso and wiggled her brows. Sasha shook her head. "We don't know how my body will react to a pregnancy right now Kelly. It could kill us both." Tessa finally spoke up. "If I may. I'm a Doula for immortals. I could provide some insight if its not to forward." We all looked at her and Sasha hesitantly nodded. "I recently became the second Tri-Hybrid in existence." Tessa titled her head bit in thought then smiled. "Queen Snow has had several children already without complication so I have no doubt you will be fine." Sasha seemed to be relieved but the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Something was definitely off with this chick. "Im sorry guys but Sasha needs rest. We'll discuss this later when we are ready." I then kicked them out of the house after sending Kelly an apologetic text. Apparently she felt the same way about Tessa. She couldn't have known Sasha was immortal until she stated she was. "That was kind of rude." I shook my head at my mates words. "I don't like Tessa. Something is very off about her." Sasha huffed. "But did you have to kick Kelly out?" I answered in a serious voice. My mate sat on the couch and folded her arms across her chest. "You feel that strongly about Tessa? Or Kelly?" I parted my mates thighs and sat to where I could be between her legs and have my head in her lap. It was then I noticed a very sweet underlying smell on Sasha. One I had never smelled before. It was different from her heat smell. I brushed it off for the time being. "Snow doesn't have any children. Not technically. Osiris Demons are similar to Oblivials but for some reason the males are prone to infertility. No one knows why this is. Their king recently contracted an Oblivial to track the source and see if they could find a cure for his own fertility issues. Snow has already been cleared and is very fertile." I said. "How do you know this?" "Dax was the demon the king hired. He's seen Snow heavily pregnant. She is the only reason their species is surviving. She's birthing all the babies for them. Their children from her are not afflicted with this issue as they are mixed. But the pure bred males are essentially sterile. The fact that Tessa knew about the pregnancies is a major red flag. No one knows about this except Dax." Sasha took a moment to process all of this. "If it's the males. How is she getting pregnant?" "Very careful genetic engineering. They only have the ability to make like ten sperm viable from one male. So they take the male's sperm and his mate's egg and impregnate Snow with it. Her blood alters the child's genetic make up, erasing all issues, while the child is still biologically the mated couples." "Oh. So the sperm is Frankensteined to life." I thought about it and shrugged. "Pretty much." "So even immortals have fertility issues?" I met her gaze this time. "Some. It's really only the much older races that do because their family tree has morphed into a fuckin wreath." My mate giggled. "Gross." "Very." We snuggled bit and Kelly came back over later with my brother in toe. He fussed over Kelly and I couldn't help but to smile a bit. Kelly was changing him little by little. He used to boast about how he conquered women of all races and now he was the one being conquered by a tiny female half his size. "So how did you know she was pregnant?" Sasha asked Dax. His answer made me stiffen. "Her smell had changed. It was suddenly sweeter than usual and she was eating everything in the house. I mean, EVERYTHING, even all of the condiments." Kelly elbowed him in the ribs and he pretended like it hurt. "Aren't you worried about your life span?" My mate was so curious while I was busy subtly sniffing my mate. Dax had noticed. "Not really. As it turns out I'm not mortal. Im actually half Berserker." "That explains a lot." I chimed in while trying to take a sneaky sniff of Sasha's hair. "Ok sniffy." She pushed me away a bit and smiled at Kelly again. "Dax did that to me before we found out I'm pregnant." Sasha's heart started to race. She was trying to remain calm but we could all hear it. "Sash... Im not trying to make you panic. Look, I have some pregnancy tests left. Dax will go get them and we can put this to bed." She nodded slowly and swallowed. She was scared. I was too. Thing is, we haven't been intimate since the turning. She's supposed to wait eight weeks. It's been six and even though I want nothing more then to destroy our house and all its furniture.... my thoughts trailed off and Sasha scoffed. "Down boy." Dax soon returned with a Walmart bag with the tests inside.
