Olivia couldn’t shake the nervous energy that clung to her as she walked into her mother’s house the next afternoon. She had promised herself she would face this head-on, but now that she was here, she wasn’t so sure. Her mother, Eleanor, stood at the doorway with a knowing expression, arms crossed. "You finally decided to show up." "I know, I should have called sooner," Olivia admitted, setting her bag down as she stepped inside. "I just needed time to—" "To avoid telling me about Noah?"
