HAZEL POV
I stumbled backward instantly, my breathing ragged while fear clawed violently through my chest. What just happened?
The warrior groaned weakly beneath the rubble before a large hand suddenly wrapped around his throat. The stranger lifted him effortlessly, Like he weighed nothing. My eyes widened. The air itself felt Suffocating, Powerful even, Every instinct inside me screamed danger.
The warrior clawed desperately at the man’s wrist, choking violently. “P-please—”
“You touched her.”The voice was low so deadly calm more so A chill ran down my spine instantly.
I had never heard a voice like that before. Cold enough to freeze blood. The warrior shook harder. “I-I didn’t know—”
The stranger’s eyes darkened murderously. “You should’ve died before finding out.”
Then— c***k.
The warrior’s body went limp immediately.
A broken gasp escaped my lips.
He dropped the corpse carelessly onto the floor. Like trash.
My heart slammed violently against my ribs while I stared at the dead warrior in horror. Then slowly… The stranger turned toward me. My breath caught. He was tall.
Far taller than any wolf I had ever seen before. Dark clothes clung to broad shoulders stained faintly with blood. Power rolled off him so violently it made my knees weak. And his eyes— God, They were terrifying.
Cold silver mixed with something feral underneath. He stared at me silently. Not speaking or moving. Just staring. I immediately lowered my gaze, panic rushing through me. Who was he? One of Rane’s allies?
No… No ordinary wolf felt like this.
Heavy footsteps suddenly echoed through the corridor behind him.“Alpha King—”
I froze. Alpha… King? My head snapped up before I could stop myself. Behind the stranger stood several powerful wolves I recognized instantly from stories alone.
Silvermoon warriors.
My blood turned cold.
No. No no no— The Alpha King? The ruthless ruler every pack feared? The man people whispered about like a monster?
Fear surged through me immediately.
I dropped to my knees so fast pain shot through my injured back. “Bow your head to the King!” Rane barked harshly the moment he entered the corridor.
My entire body stiffened.
Rane looked terrified while Blood stained the side of his face. Luna Lora stood behind him looking pale while several guards nervously avoided looking at the dead warrior on the floor. The corridor felt suffocatingly silent.
I lowered my head immediately toward the ground, trembling slightly. Don’t look at him, Don’t speak, Don’t breathe wrong.
That was how you survived powerful wolves. But then…Footsteps approached me slowly. My stomach twisted painfully.
The Alpha King stopped directly in front of me.I could feel his presence even without looking up. He is so Massive and Dangerous. My wolfless body reacted instinctively with fear. “Who did this to you?”
The question stunned me.I blinked slowly against the floor. What?
Rane answered quickly before I could. “Just a disobedient slave, Your Majesty. She often creates prob—”
“Did I ask you?” The corridor went deathly silent. Rane immediately shut his mouth.
I had never seen him silenced so quickly before. My fingers trembled against the floor weakly. The Alpha King crouched suddenly so close. I flinched when rough fingers tilted my chin upward gently.
The contrast nearly confused me more than his violence earlier. His silver eyes studied every bruise on my face slowly.
And the longer he looked… The more terrifying his expression became.
Luna Lora finally snapped “She’s cursed.”
My body stiffened instantly beneath the Alpha King’s touch. Lora stepped forward despite Rane’s warning look, hatred twisting her beautiful face. “That girl destroys everything she touches,” she spat venomously.
“Her father betrayed this pack. Her mother brought ruin the moment she stepped into our borders. And now her filthy blood infects everyone around her.”
My chest tightened painfully. “Aiden died because of her,” she continued cruelly.
“Anyone who gets close to that thing suffers.”
The Alpha King went completely still.
Even Rane noticed it.“Lora,” he warned quietly.
But she didn’t stop. “She should’ve been killed years ago,” she hissed while glaring at me. “She’s nothing but a cursed slave—”
A violent pressure slammed through the corridor so hard the walls cracked instantly I gasped. Several guards collapsed choking onto their knees. Rane stumbled backward in horror. The Alpha King rose slowly to his full height. His silver eyes darkened into something monstrous while his wolf’s presence crushed the entire corridor beneath it.
“Say that again,” he said softly.
Lora paled slightly but lifted her chin stubbornly. “She is cursed—”
She never finished. The Alpha King moved so fast I barely saw it.One second he stood beside me.The next— he held Lora above the ground
“YOUR MAJESTY!!” Rane screamed in horror the only thing that responded was Lora's chokes and grunts.
Lora clawed desperately at the Alpha King’s wrist, choking violently while her feet kicked helplessly above the ground.
But the king didn’t even blink. His silver eyes remained locked on her with terrifying calm.
“You called,” he said quietly, voice deadly soft, “my mate cursed.”
Mate. The word shattered through my mind again. No—
Lora’s face had already turned purple from lack of air. Tears streamed down her cheeks as panic consumed her completely. “P-please—”
Crack.
The sound echoed brutally through the corridor. Lora’s body went limp instantly.
A horrified gasp escaped several guards.
Rane stumbled backward like he’d been struck physically. The Alpha King released her carelessly. Her corpse hit the floor with a sickening thud. Dead.
Fear slammed into me so violently my body reacted before my mind could.
“Run.” I turned and bolted. Pain tore through my back immediately, but terror pushed me harder.
I heard shouting erupt behind me. “STOP HER!”
But nobody dared touch me, Not after what they had just witnessed. My bare feet pounded desperately against the palace floors while tears blurred my vision. He killed the Luna. The Alpha King killed the Luna. And he called me his mate.
Panic clawed violently through my chest.
Why me? Why would someone like him even look at someone like me? I don't even have a wolf.
I shoved through servants and guards blindly while chaos exploded throughout the manor behind me. Then—A Monstrous roar shook the entire palace. The sound alone nearly sent me collapsing to the floor.
Screams erupted outside immediately afterward.I froze briefly near one of the palace windows. Fire. My breath caught.
Parts of the Ashtray Pack grounds were burning. Warriors ran in terror while the alpha king's wolves tore through the pack like monsters unleashed from hell itself.
The Alpha King was destroying everything.
“No…” I whispered shakily.
A loud crash echoed nearby. The manor walls trembled violently. I forced myself forward again.I needed to hide. Needed to get away before he decided I was a problem too.
But my body was already failing me.I hadn’t eaten properly in days.My injuries burned. My vision blurred harder with every step. The deeper I ran into the woods, the quieter everything became.
Finally…My legs gave out. I collapsed hard onto the ground, gasping painfully.
No… Please…
I tried forcing myself back up.But exhaustion crushed me completely.
Then…A scent hit the air.Smoke and Blood.
My entire body froze.Heavy footsteps echoed slowly behind me. The Alpha King appeared moments later at the end of the corridor. And somehow…He looked even more terrifying now.
Blood stained his clothes. Smoke curled faintly around him. His silver eyes glowed unnaturally in the darkness while power rolled off him violently.Behind him, distant screams still echoed from the burning pack. His gaze locked onto me instantly.
“Found you.” The words slammed through my head though his lips never moved.
I scrambled backward weakly on the floor, panic surging again. “P-please…” I whispered brokenly.
The Alpha King stopped directly in front of me. I flinched violently when he crouched down.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” he said.
But how could I believe that? I had just watched him kill two people without hesitation.
Tears blurred my vision harder. Then his gaze slowly moved across the bruises covering my skin. The cuts, The blood, The whip marks barely hidden beneath my torn dress.
Rage darkened his expression all over again. “They hurt you,” he said quietly. “And now they’re paying for it.”
Another distant scream echoed outside.
Fear wrapped tighter around my chest.
The Alpha King reached toward me slowly.
I tried to move away instinctively. But my exhausted body finally betrayed me completely.
Darkness swallowed my vision whole.
The last thing I felt—Was strong arms catching me before I hit the ground.
