7 am and I was already in the building. That was the time I was given to resume work. I couldn't believe I'd be up this early working while that lunatic stays at home sleeping till whenever he likes.
"Miss Higgins".
"Hmm". I turned.
"Take Mr Jarad's office on the last floor. Make sure to be on your best behaviour". My head colleague instructed before leaving.
I sighed silently as I turned. "I applied for a secretary post. How does being a secretary correlate with being a cleaner? This is all that mannerless CEO's fault". I muttered.
I was directed to where the cleaning equipment was. I grabbed the ones I'd be needing and left for the last floor to his office. I finally got there after a series of complaints I exchanged with myself. I unlocked the door with the key card that was given to me and pushed open the door. I think my heart skipped a beat at the sight of the luxurious room. It was so big that it could fit up to 6 staff to work in. I gently pushed the mop and the rest of the things inside the office and shut the door.
"This maniac is a big man". I kept cursing at the sight of any expensive object. I was so annoyed by how this man was living lavishly. I was already in love with the company and I wanted a job as a secretary but unfortunately, I was given what I least expected, a cleaning job. he
"I'm sure he asked them to specifically give me this position". I groaned in anger.
I dipped the mop stick in the soapy water and cleaned the office floor. Before leaving I made sure I didn't dry the water on the floor. I left a large quantity of water on the floor and left the office. I smiled broadly like a thief who had just finished robbing a bank, to a senior colleague who walked past me not minding me. I packed all the cleaning materials and hurried down the elevator before anyone else noticed me. I let out a loud sigh of relief. I felt happy like I had just won a championship match. I continued my day with a broad smile on my face, from the P.A.'s office to the cafeteria to the staff lounge.
Several hours had passed by and my stomach began to make different sounds. It continued rumbling until I finally agreed to get something to eat. I took the stairs to the first floor to get to the cafeteria. On getting there, I heard noises. Masculine voices were being raised in the right argument; I decided to get a peek at what the issue was about. I met the head of the Cleaning Team, Sir Gabriel, and a few of my colleagues. I figured I might be in trouble and tried to escape silently.
"Miss Higgins. Join us now". He instructed with a strict voice.
"Yes, sir Gabriel". I quickly joined the team in the circle.
"There was a complaint from the CEO himself about the cleaning in his office. He complained that there was a large quantity of water left on the floor in his office. Who amongst us is responsible for that?". I raised my hand in shame slowly. I watched how everyone was so disappointed in my actions. "I've assigned Markisha to handle the CEO's office from now henceforth. Head to his office now and apologize or send in an apology note". He left the meeting and walked down the stairs.
I headed to the elevator immediately. My heart raced as I slowly approached his office. I gently knocked on the door and waited for a response from the other side. I pushed open the door at his response that I should come in. The place was all dried up now, obviously someone else was sent here to redo my work. I walked close to his desk where he was seen eating a burger alongside a smoothie. I grabbed the burger and bit from it. "Mm... mm. It's nice. Where did you get it? From the Cafeteria? I don't care, I'm so hungry".
I stole the smoothie from his hand and took a long sip. It tasted very nice too, I couldn't deny it.
He was now irritated at my behaviour. I didn't care though; I just stood across the room and watched him get lost in his thoughts.
"Leave". He commanded. His expressions were now as strict as ever.
I kindly exited the office still holding the smoothie cup and burger in my hand. I grumbled upon getting to the elevator. "This is just the beginning, ha-ha".
