*Chapter Seventeen – The Art of Figuring It Out* They didn’t dive in recklessly. There were no sweeping declarations, no dramatic kisses under the rain. Just… gradual things. Quiet things. Like how Kai would slide her favorite pen across the desk before she asked. Like how Eliana would remember to download the indie track he mentioned in passing. They weren’t officially “together.” But everyone noticed something was different. Their shadows overlapped more. Their silences softened. Their laughter came easier. One afternoon, as they studied in the library, Kai nudged her notebook. “You still draw?” She hesitated, then flipped to a page she hadn’t shown anyone. A sketch of a boy standing at a cliff’s edge, looking out at the sea. Alone, but not lonely. He stared at it for a while. “That how you see me?” “Not exactly.” She smirked. “That’s how I saw you. Before I knew what you were thinking when you looked out.” Kai leaned in, whispering like the answer was sacred. “I was hoping someone would come stand next to me.” Eliana didn’t blush. But her heart did something close. *They were still figuring it out.* But sometimes, figuring it out was the most beautiful part.
