*Chapter Thirteen – The Dance of Words*
The following week, Kai and Eliana found themselves wandering through the city’s quiet park after a rainstorm. The air was fresh, the grass glistening with droplets, and the sky a soft gray blanket above.
Eliana, usually guarded, felt an unfamiliar lightness as they walked side by side.
“So,” Kai said, nudging her gently, “what’s the story behind that poem you wrote the other day?”
She glanced at him, surprised. “You read it?”
“I did. Twice.”
Eliana’s cheeks warmed. “It’s about fear, mostly. Fear of losing control, of letting someone in.”
Kai stopped walking and looked at her, his eyes soft but unwavering.
“Letting me in isn’t a loss,” he said. “It’s a new beginning.”
She hesitated, the words stirring something deep inside. “I’m scared.”
“I know. And that’s okay.”
He took her hand tentative, respectful and squeezed gently.
For the first time in a long time, Eliana let her walls fall, just enough to let him in.
The city around them faded as the quiet dance of their hearts began.
