Chapter Two

*Mr Gilbert* It was a sunny afternoon at the airport. We had just returned from London after a business trip. There I was once again seated at the arrival lounge of the airport. Although I didn't really want to be seen here, I didn't really have much of a choice as I had to wait for a few of my newly found business partners who were having issues with immigration at the airport. Leaving them all alone would seem too rude, hence my reason for waiting behind. Being an experienced businessman, I knew that I had to suppress my needs and desires to make a good impression. “We are very sorry for the inconveniences sir” I heard one of the airport staff say to Mr Usman who is one of my newly found business partners as he helped him bring his belongings to the arrival lounge. To be honest, I really would not blame the immigration officers for intercepting him. If I were in their shoes, I would have taken the exact same action. Although I didn't know their reason for stopping him and his cohorts, I believe it had something to do with his poorly kept beards. Although his attire may have had a role to play in his interception, I felt like his poorly kept beards were the main cause of the interception of himself and his cohorts. My attention drifted away from them when I caught a glimpse of a quite familiar face walking towards the exit of the airport. I turned to confirm whether I was right or wrong. I sometimes wish that I was wrong. And other times, I am glad I wasn't as it gave me another picture of her that I can reflect on before I finally overcome the feelings I have for her. On this very occasion, she was putting on a pink furry sweater and a black jean. On making eye contact, I could sense a seductive aura coming from her. With the nature of look she gave me, one could as well think that she wanted me to notice her. I thought of approaching her as this could as well be my only and final shot at getting to know her. “Could this be fate?” I questioned within myself. This would make it my third physical encounter with this angel in the form of a human and I was not ready to lose this opportunity for anything. I made up my mind to approach her whether or not it projected a bad impression of myself to my business partners. As she gradually began to walk out of sight, I took the bold step of following her from behind. “Mr Gilbert!” I heard Mr Usman call out. I halted in frustration and turned to face him. “I thought we all agreed that we'd leave for the hotel together?” He questioned. “Yeah,” I replied. “I'm just going to answer the call of nature,” I said with a bright smile on my face. “Oh, I see,” he said. “In that case, I guess we would wait till you return,” he added. “There would be no need for that,” I said. “You all can carry on, I'll catch up with you” I added. “We don't mind waiting,” he said. “That would be too rude of me, I wouldn't want to be the reason why you'd have to spend another half an hour in this place” I replied. “I insist,” he said. I knew I didn't have the time to carry on with this argument, so I had no other option than to give in to his demands. I ran towards the exit area where I had seen her walk towards. On getting to the exit, she was nowhere to be found. I felt even more frustrated after this. “Mr Gilbert!” I heard someone yell followed by a bang on the desk. I opened my eyes to realize that I was only having a day dream of my last encounter with my girl wonder. I quickly checked my trousers to ensure that I wouldn't end up disgracing myself in such an important conference meeting just like I did with Collins the other time in my office. I sighed on realizing that I was all clear. “I'm really sorry for keeping you waiting,” Mr Usman said as he sat at one end of the conference table. Mr Usman was almost thirty minutes late for the meeting we had scheduled for that morning. I was already getting a bit angry while waiting for them in the conference room when I slept off earlier. I just had to act like everything was ok. “It's all ok,” I said, trying to hide my rage. “Well on that note, we have spoken to my partners about the whole offer and they've agreed to your terms on the contract” one of his associates said as he stretched a file to a staff of mine who in turn brought the file to me. “But they also have a few terms that they would love to bring to the table,” he added. “All the details of their terms are in here right?” I asked him. “Yes,” he said. “My team and I would go through them and give you feedback as soon as possible” I said to him. “Well on that note, we would call it a day,” Mr Usman said. What struck me as odd was the fact that I had to wait for about half an hour and also had to cancel a few other official appointments for a meeting that would not last seven minutes. I just had to bottle up my emotions as they were the ones investing and their investment would go a long way in further expanding my company. “Well Mr Gilbert, I'd be leaving town in a few days…” Mr Usman said. “That's great!” I said in a rush with a smile on my face as I stood up from my chair. “So I thought to myself and asked what kind of guest I'd be if I didn't get to know your family before I leave” Mr Usman replied. “Actually, they are…” “So your partner here” he said while pointing to Collins as he interrupted me. “Said that it would be a very nice idea” he continued. “And he also promised to help me set up a meeting with your wife,” he added. “He did?” I asked in shock and curiosity. “Collins you did?” I asked again while facing Collins. “Yeah I did” he replied with a fake smile on his face. He soon dropped his smile after making eye contact with me.
