The car hummed down the nearly empty road as the city lights of Grosthe flickered faintly in the distance. Neither of us felt any comfort seeing it— John and I. It seemed like we were heading straight into something alarming. The silence in the car wasn’t peaceful. Now and then, John's grip on the wheel would tighten, as my leg refused to stop bouncing. Neither of us said it aloud, but Julius’s warning was still in our minds, uninvited yet impossible to ignore.
