Chapter 3 The Arrival of the Storm

*croak croak* As if it had discovered some danger, a frog was busy hopping and fleeing into the distance, but it was unexpectedly bitten by a large mouth. The mouth fell from the sky and swallowed into its stomach along with the dirt underneath it. "Not enough..." Godzilla licked his lips and smacked his lips, his sharp fangs even clashing with some sparks. It had been half a year since he'd been away from the Dragon's Nest, Godzilla had gradually familiarized himself with this world and had come to a clear understanding of his situation. After walking hundreds of kilometers nocturnally, Godzilla finally selected a campsite - a pool of water on the backside of a mountain, with some streams feeding into it from above. With such a nice place, Godzilla did enjoy a lot of the creatures that came to drink. However, it didn't last long, the animals of the land seemed to know of the presence of a predator and rarely came to drink here anymore. Nevertheless, this place called Lunenden Valley was in the southwestern part of the continent, and beyond the valley was the human kingdom. Therefore, even if there was still an abundance of food, Godzilla would not plan to live here permanently. While Godzilla hadn't seen any humans, Godzilla had overheard the conversations of the Kobolds and Gnolls in the valley - it was a place where novice adventurers would arrive from time to time, and they tended to end up as feces in the place. The dragon's lifespan was long, but the corresponding time needed to grow was also not short. Although Godzilla's size was already comparable to that of a juvenile dragon, the dragon's inheritance that belonged to him still reminded him - he still belonged to the category of fledgling dragons. An increasingly large size would only make it harder and harder for Godzilla to hide. Generally, fledgling dragons grow between 0 and 5 years, after which they become infant dragons, slightly more capable of defending themselves - this is also generally when the chromatic dragons choose to drive the young away. Godzilla's genes mixed with red and silver dragons - this gave him an extremely strong appetite and digestive speed. Although Godzilla can react with water or air without food to provide itself with the energy it needs, Godzilla has not yet evolved to that point, and at best, it absorbs and utilizes energy at a rate much higher than that of ordinary dragons. All of the above, coupled with Godzilla's genetic growth rate, is the reason why his growth rate is much faster than that of other dragons. However, as a fledgling dragon, it was still very difficult to fill his stomach on his own. Fortunately, dragons can eat anything, even dirt and gravel can be digested when there is not enough food, and eating metal can even strengthen the dragon's body - so it could also hold on. Godzilla had also expected his superpowers to be stronger, but he didn't know if it was because of being in another world - the speed of downloading a new movie was simply unparalleled, and it was impossible to complete it without years of waiting. As for that already downloaded Godzilla Resurrection, Godzilla didn't even consider entering it again unless he could achieve the kind of perverted defence that Godzilla had in the movie. Godzilla had not been without danger in the half-year he had stayed here. When he first came to the water pool, there were a lot of crocodiles in the water pool, and every one of them was not smaller than Godzilla. However, compared to a real dragon, these ordinary animals were still not strong enough - they were lured out one by one by Godzilla and lost their lives under the dragon's breath. Although he wasn't capable of using Godzilla's Atomic Breath right now, the Red Dragon's Flame Breath seemed to have been strengthened and was quite a bit more powerful than a normal fledgling dragon's breath. In addition, he also has the same Freezing Breath and Paralyzing Breath that belongs to Silver Dragons, which greatly enriches his combat ability in the fledgling stage where he is incapable of releasing magic. By relying on almost cheating-like sneak attacks, the crocodiles in the water pool contributed their flesh, which allowed Godzilla to enjoy a life without worries for a while. Now though, the good times were coming to an end. For some reason, there were more human adventurers in the valley these days - something Godzilla had overheard from two passing Kobolds. Godzilla did not intend to appear before any intelligent creature until he had passed the fledgling stage. "Looks like I won't be able to stay here for a few more days." Godzilla thought in his mind, no matter what exactly these adventurers were here for, it was never a good thing for him. Although his current appearance did not belong to any kind of chromatic dragon or metallic dragon, if he were to be seen, he would only be thought of as an unknown dragon that had been banished. The greed of humans was obvious to all. When the time comes, whether it's being killed to be made into weapons and amour potions or being forced to sign a contract to become a pet, it's something Godzilla can't accept. Having only eaten a single frog in the morning, the hunger in his belly kept urging Godzilla to find something to eat as soon as possible, which made him a little irritated. He lowered his head and nibbled hard on a few large mouthfuls of watercress, slightly soothing his disgruntled belly. Continuing to keep watch was basically impossible now. His food intake was so great that he alone ate more than all the crocodiles in the pool of water before. Except for fools, essentially no more animals would come here to drink - it was just a matter of walking farther away, after all, there wasn't just one source of water. As a result, Godzilla was forced to choose to go out in daylight for the first time. The water rippled as the pink body dragged its long tail out of the pool. Ebem was one of the most common adventurers in the Trido Kingdom, and although he was only in his mid-twenties, he had already been out and about for quite some time. Recently a message came from somewhere - it seemed that a giant dragon had once nested within the Lunenden Valley, but for some reason had left. This drew hordes of greedy adventurers to try and locate the dragon's lair to see if they could find some of the treasure the dragon had left behind. Of course, if it wasn't clear that the dragon had already left, the lowest-level adventurers like Ebem would never dare to have this idea. Most of these adventurers who came here to take their chances were at the lowest level, and truly powerful humans would not come here. "Cumor, do you think we can really find the dragon's nest?" Ebem belonged to a small mercenary group - including the leader, there were only seven or eight people in total. Among them, there were only two or three who could be called professionals, and not even a single mage. This was sort of the standard configuration for most small mercenary corps, not like what was written in knight novels - no matter how big or small, even a mercenary corps with only a few people would have the presence of a half-baked mage. Cumor was from the same hometown as him, and the two had joined the mercenary group called Pack of Blades together for three years now. "Who knows? Anyway, even if we find it, the chief won't give us more than a few silver coins!" Cumor grumbled in a small voice. After all, if the chief hadn't improvised, he would still be in the town's tavern squandering the only silver coins he had left. "Keep your voice down!" Ebem looked around sheepishly, afraid that someone else might hear them. He was now afraid to say anything else to Cumor. No kidding, the chief had promised him just before he left to instruct him in the training of a swordsman. "Look out, there's movement!" The valley was no place for humans, and just as Ebem turned his head, he spotted what appeared to be a quivering bush in the distance. "Chief, there's movement here! Be careful on guard!" Ebem drew his long-sword, his eyes dead set on the bush. Cumor, on the other hand, was still in a daze until Ebem drew his long-sword, which he panicked and pulled out together. Ebem's companions weren't too far away from each other, and after noticing the commotion, they too were rapidly making their move this way. "It's the Kobolds!" The creatures in the bushes, seeing that they were exposed, no longer hid, and came out in a swarm of hooting and hollering. They came with such ferocity that Ebem and Cumor's faces instantly turned white. So many Kobolds were beyond the limit of what they could handle, and each of them could only deal with two or three at the most at the same time. Turning around and running away would be the most unwise behaviour, it would be better to stay put and wait for the chief's support. The Kobolds' rush was undisciplined, but the amount of them made up for it. At the first moment of contact, Cumor was hit in the crotch by a bone club and fell to the ground with a scream. Instantly a group of Kobolds swarmed over him and he gradually lost his breath. Ebem was scared to death, but now he could only barely hold on, and it wouldn't be long before he followed in Cumor's footsteps. It was a good thing that the long-held training had finally had the desired effect - he'd managed to hold out until support arrived, before being smashed to death by the Kobolds' mining shovels. Several sharp arrows flew in, relieving Ebem's urgent need, and the mercenary members arrived in full force next. Soon, under the blows of having a swordsman, and two archers joining hands, the Kobolds collapsed - without the presence of the same level to stop them, the Kobolds couldn't even put up a decent resistance. Ebem's heart was pounding as he watched from the back. Was this the professional? In the past, although he knew that the chief was strong, he wasn't aware of how big the gap was between a professional and an ordinary person. The Kobolds were cowed by the kill and began to frantically flee, but the Pack of Blades didn't abort the attack, instead, they chased after them. Because the Kobolds also possessed the bloodline of True Dragons, they naturally liked to collect wealth just like True Dragons. Occasionally, the mercenaries would be able to get an unexpected collection in the lair of a Kobold.
