Chapter 6 The Devil's Eye?

1776 Words
Inside the mine cave near the side of the mountain, a group of Kobolds looked terrified. The sound of an undetectable whimpering wail rang out from time to time, making the atmosphere here more and more uneasy. This was just a small tribe - together with the young Kobolds, there were only forty or fifty of them. The ones that were still left in the mine now were only a dozen or so. Not long ago, the most powerful chief of their tribe led most of the adult Kobolds out to hunt. However, who would have thought that it was only half a day, and some Kobolds had fled back in a hurry. The Kobolds that went out to hunt were surprisingly killed by a group of adventurers, and even the chief didn't manage to escape with his life. There were only three Kobolds who managed to escape back to the mine alive, and it seemed that all the other Kobolds had died at the hands of the humans outside. The remaining Kobolds were terrified, fearing that the humans would find their way here and slaughter everyone. Some Kobolds suggested moving away quickly - but with this group of old and weak, I'm afraid that they would be eaten clean by the beasts before they could get out far. In desperation, this group of Kobolds finally summoned up the courage, led by the only remaining adult Kobolds, warily picked up weapons and ambushed the cave entrance hall. "Ouch!" Doglu had just entered the hall of the tribe when he was smashed to the ground by a mining pickaxe, and several mining pickaxes followed and smashed at him. He was terrified, it was hard enough to save his own life, was he now going to die at the hands of one of his own? "Stop!" The leading Kobold realized that the one who broke in was not a human, but Doglu. He hastily stopped the mining pick that slammed into Doglu and pulled Doglu, who was still in a daze, to his feet as soon as he could. "Doglu! How come it's you? What's going on out there now? Where are the humans? Did they come after us? Did they find us?" Doglu, who had just turned around from the dead, was dumbfounded by these consecutive questions. He opened his mouth to answer but simply didn't know how to speak. The Kobolds, who were on the verge of losing their breath from the impending demise, desperately wanted to know the answer. Looking at Doglu's lustful look, some of the Kobolds quickly conjured up the sight of Doglu betraying the tribe. "Doglu! Did you bring the humans here?" Guplu pointedly howled out what he was thinking. Guplu's words were like a basin of ice water, undoubtedly extinguishing the remaining sanity of the crowd of Kobolds. With reddened eyes, they wanted to kill Doglu the traitor first. Doglu, who had only just caught his breath, nearly fainted at the sight. As he dodged, he cursed out, "Damn Guplu! Is your brain filled with ogre faeces? If I had brought humans, you'd all be corpses by now! I did find a way to save our Smelly Woods Tribe!" The crowd of Kobolds stopped at the words and subconsciously looked in Doglu's direction, only Guplu remained unrelenting: "Doglu! I believe you when you say you didn't bring any humans, but with just one of you Kobold, how can you possibly save our tribe!" "Who says I don't have a way! I've got a real dragon as my master!" Doglu straightened his chest, smug and proud as he scorned his former companion. "Impossible! The real dragon in Lunenden Valley is long gone, everyone knows that. What's more, how could a real dragon possibly care about you!" Regarding Doglu's words, Guplu only felt that he was bragging, he simply didn't believe that Doglu would be that lucky. This infuriated Doglu, and he looked at Guplu more and more unkindly. "Guplu! Wasn't it just that I once accidentally cracked one of your eggs! I didn't expect you to harbour a grudge. Here! Smell the odour of my body! This is the scent left by the great real dragon!" Seeing that Doglu was so confident, a group of Kobolds believed most of it in their hearts, and all of them went down to the side of Doglu and smelled it. Just now they do not feel, but now Doug after clearly pointing out, and then can not smell out of the identity of their Kobolds will be in vain. "That's right... hiss... oh... it's the smell of a real dragon!" "Well ......! It can't be wrong! There's a real dragon scale in my great aunt's second aunt's grandfather's house, and that's what it smells like!" "A real dragon! Our Smelly Woods Tribe is going to be blessed by a real dragon too!" A group of Kobolds crowded around Doglu, sniffing around on him non-stop, their faces full of enjoyment at the look. Guplu naturally sniffed it out as well - it was indeed the odour of a giant dragon's body, it absolutely could not be faked, and the smell was still fresh. He reddened and awkwardly stepped aside. "All right! Now that the great Real Dragon Master is waiting for me outside, quickly take out all the treasures in the tribe and contribute them to the great Real Dragon - it's about whether we can become his servants!" The crowd of Kobolds sniffed as if they were waking up from a dream, and immediately rushed into the chieftain's cave to rummage around, scavenging everything they could find. Then under Doglu's leadership, all the Kobolds followed, carrying several wooden crates, harboring the awe of the Real Dragon, they walked out with apprehension. "Great Real Dragon! Please accept the Smelly Woods Tribe's tribute!" Just as they stepped out of the mouth of the mine, a group of Kobolds were shocked by the dragon's might that came upon them, and they fell to their knees, chanting the greatness of the dragon under their breath. "Nice! Open the box!" Godzilla deliberately released his dragon's power, the purpose of which was to give them an early warning, lest any unscrupulous ones question his skin colour and breed. "Yes! Great real dragon! ” The Kobolds finally saw Godzilla's look, and with the previous dragon's power, these Kobolds didn't find Godzilla's look strange, but instead became more excited. Doglu opened the wooden crates placed one by one, most of them were wild fruits collected by the Kobolds, the meat of unknown animals and some of the iron ore dug out. There were also gold coins and precious stones, but there were only a pitiful dozen of them. At this moment, Doglu's heart could not help but feel a little apprehensive, he did not know whether he could impress the dragon in front of him with such a little thing or not. Godzilla hadn't expected anything good from these Kobolds, but after seeing them, he couldn't help but be a little disappointed. "Huh?" Suddenly, a restlessness that originated from deep within appeared - as if something in one of the wooden boxes was calling to him. "Go dump the contents of that crate." Godzilla forced back his inner longing and maintained his outward majesty as he commanded Doglu in a flat tone. Doglu was a little taken aback but obeyed Godzilla's orders. The wooden box was turned over, and the ores inside tumbled to the ground. Among the pile of crimson-coloured iron ore, there was one piece that stood out in particular - it was a glittering green colour, and upon closer inspection, it seemed to emit a slight shimmering light. After this piece of ore was completely revealed, Godzilla's inner longing was about to break through the sky - this was some kind of ore that contained radioactive elements! Godzilla's heart shook as he realized where that feeling came from - Godzilla was feeding on radioactive substances. However, he had only just arrived in this world half a year ago, and was still only a wyrmling, so it was good enough to have enough to eat, so how could he still look for radioactive substances to feed on. "Where did you find this stone?" Godzilla couldn't help but inquire, desperate to know the origin of this radioactive raw material. Doglu followed Godzilla's gaze and saw the stone, his face suddenly turned white, and he hastily knelt down to beg Godzilla's forgiveness: ''Great Real Dragon! I really don't know why there is such a piece of Devil's Eye in this box! I'll throw it away right now!" "Wait! Why do you call it the Devil's Eye? This stone is very useful to me. So now - I need more!" Godzilla licked his lips, he couldn't hold it back any longer and couldn't wait before swallowing the radioactive ore into his stomach, along with the wooden crate. "Oh..." Godzilla only felt warmth in his belly, and every cell in his body was cheering and dancing. The sensation of swallowing radioactive ore was completely different from eating normal minerals, there was a special pungency to it, a rare experience for a dragon's palate. Doglu's jaw dropped as he watched, praising in his heart that he was indeed worthy of being a real dragon - even the Devil's Eye, which they could not afford to avoid, could be used as food. "Great Real Dragon, compared to the majestic and powerful you, we are simply too weak to be exempt from the devil's curse. This kind of ore was dug out from the pits in the previous territory. At first, we thought it was some kind of special gemstone, but we didn't realize that ever since we dug up this kind of stone, it was as if our clan had been hit by a devil's curse, and many of our clansmen died there!" "Originally, our clan was much larger than it is now, but now we are all that is left!" "Originally, we had a much larger tribe than we do now, but now we are all that's left..." Saying this, Doglu looked a bit forlorn, as if he was remembering the old days when the tribe was strong. Hearing this, Godzilla's joy could no longer be suppressed, it grinned at its dragon's mouth, its dragon saliva dripping down continuously: ''So there are still a lot of... hmm... Devil's Eyes there at the location of your original tribe, is that right? Very well! Now, take me there immediately! If it's really like what you say, then you, The Smelly Woods Tribe, will be my first dependent tribe!"
