Chapter 3

Amelia’s POV The cold steel of the gun pressed against Amelia’s skin, and she froze, every muscle in her body locking in place. Enzo’s piercing blood-red eyes bore into her, his expression a mask of cold fury. Her heart pounded so loudly that she was certain he could hear it, each beat a frantic plea for mercy. But she knew better than to expect kindness from a man like him. Amelia kept her gaze on the floor, her body trembling uncontrollably. She could feel the power radiating off of him, a force that both terrified and entranced her. Every instinct screamed at her to run, to flee from this man who could end her life with a single pull of the trigger. But her feet refused to move. The gun, his command, and the weight of his presence held her in place. “Who the f**k are you? "And why are you here?” Enzo growled deeply again, his voice cold and devoid of any hint of patience. The tone of his voice was dangerously angry and Amelia understood that tone, especially when she was stripped away from her status and turned into an omega, then fled like a rogue. Amelia remembered that Victor used that tone when he wanted to kill someone, or how he used that tone on her as well. He used to tie her hands and feet together, preparing her to give Amelia a beating, which involved metal of the belt that made contact with her skin and blood…every night. Amelia shivered in terror, her distress likely evident in her body stance and also the way she trembled. She felt her blood rushing into her ears, and blocking all sounds except for her breath. The man took several steps backwards yet continued to point the gun at her as he awaited the answers to his question. When he reached the couch, he sat down and crossed his right foot over his left knee. The gun now shifted from her forehead to her chest. “I… I am…my…” She stuttered, finding it difficult to talk. Victor and Argus were always a team when it came to betraying and cheating other Alpha’s and pack alliances. And this created many enemies. Amelia thought terribly about thinking if he was one of them. “I won’t repeat myself, you filthy rogue, so you had better start talking. "You have exactly fifteen seconds.” Amelia sensed that the man in front of her was starting to lose his patience, and she knew very well from the tone of his voice that if she did not answer now, he would kill her without a second thought. It was very evident the way his face twisted angrily with each word. “Amelia. "My name is Amelia,” Ameila stated in a rush, with her voice raspy from crying and terror. “Amelia” He whispered her name, rolling it off his tongue as it was laced with something meaningful and precious. The man’s voice was deep, and it shuddered throughout Amelia’s body. “Amelia” Amelia heard him say it again. Though she hated to admit it, Amelia liked the way he said her name as it came out of his mouth. He said it was as gentle as a flower petal. Pull yourself together Amelia. This is not the time. Focus on getting out of here. The man in front of us is about to shoot us. Focus. Amelia thought and pulled herself together. “I want your full name, Amelia,” he asked, and continued to stare at her slowly. Amelia took a deep breath and thought carefully about how to tell him. The man’s gaze never left Amelias and continued to stare down at her. Since Amelia was really deep in her thoughts on how to answer him, and was not responding quickly to his questions, the man sat forward in his chair, angry. “Now Amelia, you are testing my patience. You are very lucky that I am being extra patient with you right now, so you better start talking because I won't ask again.” Amelia nodded and the man continued. “Let me introduce myself. "I am sure you have heard of me once I state my name.” The man stated, in a dark low tone. “My name is Enzo Niccolò.” This shook Amelia to the edge and she stood there frozen. She knew that name. She stood there in her spot not moving and kept her stare at the man as her body began to go numb. No. It can’t be. Not him. Amelia thought. Her heart beat in alarm as she stared into his un-moving cold eyes. God, please no. No. Amelia kept praying in her head that this was all just another nightmare, but Enzo stood in front of her, telling her that he was the beginning of a dark, cold reality. “Does it ring a bell?” he asked, slowly. Amelia's stomach twisted nauseously and painfully while her vision became blurry and glassy. Amelia stumbled forward but picked herself up quickly before her upper body made contact with the floor. Oh. It definitely rang bells. Her Funeral bells. Dread and horror filled me. Amelia had thought that she had run away and freed herself from dangerous men, but this man in front of her was by far the worst and most dangerous of all. He was feared by all. But the most important part was that he was sitting in front of Amelia, and now she was even more trapped because she was his biggest enemy. Whitmores have always cheated and betrayed many pack alliances, but the biggest betrayals and frauds that Whitemores committed were aligned with the Federico. Her family was his biggest enemy and had been at war with them for many decades. Amelia was a Whitmore, from the Federico territory when she was sold. And now she is the only Whitmore's heir. And Ameila was standing in front of her rival, their Alpha. Enzo Niccolo, a global ruler of all werewolf territories. And Amelia knew that he would kill her mercilessly. If Enzo ever found out that she was a Whitmore from Federico, his number one enemy, Amelia would not stand a chance of getting her freedom. Amelia stared at Enzo’s blood-red eyes that screamed kill. Amelia thought that she had run from deadly men, and now he was standing in front of the man who no one would consider death. A person who is more deadly and dangerous to anyone. Amelia closed her eyes and tried to calm down her breathing a little. Thinking of a strategy to save her life. You can do this Amelia. Think. You ran away from two dangerous men. You can also run from this one. Amelia opened her eyes and met Enzo’s gaze however she was still shaking from the silent tremors but stood up a little braver. “Amelia Lashbroke. " My full name is Amelia Lashbroke,” Amelia stated, slowly with a little confidence so that Enzo wouldn’t think that she was lying. She wasn’t ready to die and if lying to let her be free, then she was willing to take that chance. Amelia ran away to have a better life that was far away from the werewolf world, that gave her nothing but traumatic life and horrific experiences. She wanted to live her life like a human, away from this world. It was the only thing Amelia had left, her life. Amelia wasn’t going to let anyone take that away from her, especially not the man in front of her when she had just found new freedom. So Amelia swallows hard and continues to lie. “I have been homeless for some time and, as a result, have been living on the streets for a couple of months. While living on the streets, I came into sight of a couple of dangerous men who found and wanted me to work in a brothel. They kidn*pped me, but luckily I was able to free myself and run away. While running, I came across a gas station and saw your car. I hid in the car trunk and it led me here. When one of your patrolling pack members found me, I panicked and ran inside your house – mansion. I did not know where I was running. I ran upstairs, came across your room and hid under your bed.” Amelia spoke at an acceptable speed as the words rushed out like a believable story. She was a big risk, but if it meant that she was getting her freedom, then it would be worth it. At that moment, Amelia just prayed that he would kill her and believed her. Amelia's heart was beating fast and hard, and she wanted to know what Enzo thought. Enzo comfortably sat back and uncrossed his legs. “Hmmmm.” as he played with his gun, spinning it on his left hand, first finger. His gaze never shifted from Amelia. Both of them stayed silent for a couple of minutes as Enzo thought of what he should do with the rogue. Amelia's body was becoming much more intense as the room was filled with utter silence. Her stomach cramped in fear. Well, Marco Rogues are not exactly liable to live in a pack. She could be a great threat to our pack and territory. Enzo agreed with his wolf. However, he had another thought in mind. As he continued to stare at Amelia, Enzo set his gun aside on a table next to the bench he was sitting on and leaned forward, with both of his elbows on his knees and fingers crossed together. Amelia observed his body posture, and she was under the assumption that Enzo was going to strike to make a deal. His gaze was more intense. Did he believe me? Amelia thought as she stood there in her position. Due to the war their families had had for decades, one thing Amelia knew was that Enzo was a ruthless alpha – leader of all the alphas in the werewolf world. Anyone that betrayed him or stood against him died. Amelia knew that Enzo Niccolo was a man of many secrets, dark secrets. He was very strategic but at the same time unpredictable with his moves. “I have a deal for you,” Enzo says. Although his voice was sudden, to which Amelia jumped to shudder, she also understood that at that moment her assumption was right. “You only have three options,” he continued, as Amelia stood in front of him, trembling. “One: You work for me,” he says. His voice had no emotion. It was cold and heartless, and at that point Amelia did not know what his plans were for her. “Two, I will throw you back on to the streets as a rogue, no safety.” Amelia froze this option. “Three, I kill you for trespassing on my territory.” He finished. Amelia released her breath in a whoosh as soon as Enzo finished his three offers. Enzo held a tiny smirk on his face as he waited for her to decide. Her eyes widened as she thought. Amelia took her hand to her throat and looked down to think through the offers she was given. A gesture she normally does when faced with utter nervousness and discomfort. Logically thinking, Amelia knew that she only had one option. As she was, option three was not up for consideration. Her life was the only thing that she had left to cherish. Option two meant not just being homeless, and not having to have any money, but it also gave a free way for Victor and Argus to find her. Going with the first option, Amelia thought that by staying here, she would be able to have shelter, money, and hide herself from her stepfather, Victor, and his pack wolves. However, Amelia only found one problem with this scenario. Amelia knew that if she stayed there, and somehow Enzo found out who she really was, he would kill her without a thought. As Amelia looked up at Enzo and locked her gaze on his face, he continued to think of her options, but most importantly her survival. With this, she knew that there was only one option that would help her in this situation. With a heavy heart and shaky breath, Amelia spoke of her choice. “One,” Amelia whispered hoarsely as she continued to stare at Enzo's eyes. Enzo seemed surprised by her choice, but then stretched his lips into a full devilish smirk. When Amelia witnessed the smirk she knew that she had signed herself away to him. She was no longer her own person, yet now has another new alpha. Enzo slowly stood up and walked over to Amelia, his steps voicing confidence and assurance. Once he stood right in front of her, Enzo reached out and touched a dirty strand of her hair. “Good choice, Amelia,” he says, and the way he was saying Amelia's name made her shiver under his gaze. It sounded so intimate that her legs were beginning to go weak. But Amelia managed to compose herself. “I am glad that you decided to work for me.” The way Enzo said those words so dangerously low to Amelia, it made her body freeze. Enzo stood completely in front of her until their bodies touched and pressed together. He moved his finger down towards Amelia’s cheek. He moved his face closer to her ear, “I’ll make sure that you don’t regret this decision.” He huskily, his warm breath touching Amelia's ear. Amelia was shocked and confused by this statement. What did he mean by this? Did…this…mean…Oh no! I didn’t even think of that! Amelia thought as she stared at Enzo. But he wouldn’t……..would he? Amelia questions his intentions in her head. But then again, it was no use. Amelia had agreed to work for him, which meant she signed herself away. Therefore, Enzo Niccolo could do whatever he pleased. No one could deny him, nor did he like being denied. Enzo bent down until his eyes were at Amelia eye level. “Don’t worry. " I won’t hurt you,” Enzo says to Amelia. However, she strongly doubted that. She swallowed a gulp and licked her lips and Enzo's eyes followed her movement. And his eyes turned from stone-cold to burning with lust. He licked his own lips and came closer to her ear and said in a husky voice. “Not unless you want me to.” As he said this, Amelia got really uncomfortable and shivered due to the proximity. Their physical contact with their bodies made Amelia uncomfortable as she thought of a distraction. “What….kind of…work…did you have….in…mind?” Amelia questioned, quietly stumbling on her own words as she took a small step back. She was beyond scared to think about what kind of work Enzo had in mind for her. Enzo took a step closer to Amelia and, as a result, she took another small step back. Enzo began to crowd her, his Alpha aura dominating Amelia so powerfully that it made her feel tiny and helpless. “It means exactly as it means…work”, Enzo continued in a low voice. Amelia began assuming that Enzo wanted her to fulfill his desires and needs, physical needs. Amelia feared this, she would do anything but that. Selling her body was not something she was willing to do. God! No! Please no! Anything but that! “What…work?” Amelia asked again. Enzo stared into her eyes. Ruby red to glassy green. They both looked deeply into each other’s gaze, not blinking and trying to figure out the other’s intentions. The tension between both of them silently vibrated throughout Enzo’s room, too heavy for Amelia for it to be lifted. Even though Amelia wanted to know what kind of work Enzo would assign her, she desperately wanted to leave this room. The intention was too heavy for her and she did not want to know what kind of ideas Enzo had in mind for her. She didn’t want to know it or acknowledge it. Suddenly, Enzo took a step back and Amelia released her breath, slowly as her intense, tense muscles relaxed with relief. Enzo, now standing at his full height, looked down at Amelia as his eyes hardened towards her, again. “The omega’s in my pack need extra help. "You will be helping them with cleaning and cooking.” He stated Amelia duties. Amelia stood there, shocked and confused as Enzo assigned her tasks. He wanted her to cook and clean, that’s it? To Amelia, it sounds too good to be true. “That’s all…you want me to do? "Cook…and…clean?” Amelia questioned, to clear her mind from confusion. She was bewildered. “Yes.” Enzo clarified and took a step towards her, crowding Amelia's personal space again. “What kind of work were you thinking about?” he asked quietly near her ear, his tone incredibly low as he traced down Amelia’s arm. I thought that you wanted me to be wh– Amelia shook away those thoughts from her head. She didn’t think that, nor took her mind there. As she shook her head, Amelia's hair covered her face, shielding it from Enzo's gaze. Enzo took up his hand and moved her hair away and behind her ear. Amelia nervously swallowed, and she watched Enzo's next move on her. Enzo's warm hand went on Amelia’s face, which sent electrifying shots throughout her numb and bruised body. Amelia hated to admit it, but she liked the physical effect Enzo had on her. On the other hand, it was very strange and dangerous. Amelia couldn’t understand as she observed Enzo. At one moment, he could make her fear him, and in the next minute he would make her feel desired. The situation felt very unbalanced to her. Enzo POV Enzo stood in front of Amelia and took in her appearance, brunette hair and green eyes, and stood at the average height of a woman. However, he still towered over her, as her head reached his shoulders. Though she had dirt and bruises all over her body, Enzo could tell that her skin was very fair and smooth. He took several steps back and put his hand away from her face. He stared at her and smiled. She thought that she could fool me. Enzo says to Marco What do you mean? March questions his partner. Her name is not Lashbroke. Enzo says to Marco. Enzo could sense that the woman in front of him was lying and not telling the truth. “Then maybe we should kill her. "She could be our enemy’s spy”, Marco growled as he suggested to Enzo. Enzo knew that it would be the most logical thing to do, considering that he was known as the ruthless Alpha of all Alpha’s in the werewolf world. It would make no difference, and no one would ever know. But Enzo had a better idea. “I have a better idea”, Enzo continued to mind link conversation with Marco. “I sense that she has no wolf, so let’s play with our little human.” he finished which Marco left confused but decided to keep quiet. Why do you want to keep her? Marco questions Enzo, curious as to why he wanted to spare this girl's life. Marco knew this Alpha pal was ruthless, which is why he wanted to know why he spared this girl's life. Enzo inwardly smirks. Such an innocent little girl. Enzo knew that she was lying, it was written all over her face as she trembled in fear of him. He knew that she was a shitty liar and could not help scowl at her nerves. Yet at the same time, Enzo knew that Amelia was not completely lying. Amelia. That was true. This is because when she said her name, Amelia never stuttered or stumbled on her wording. Therefore, he knew that this was the only truth. However, the rest was a lie. Enzo knew that he would eventually find out the truth, but that was not the reason why he wanted to keep her alive. As he stared at how the girl had wrapped her arms around her waist, she looked so small and innocent. Enzo figured that Amelia had no idea what she had gotten herself into, didn’t know what she had brought upon herself. But there was one thing everyone in the world knew: What Enzo wants, he gets. And the bruised and beaten-up little human on his territory…. He wanted her. All of her. Innocent little minx. He laughed inside at the thought. My minx. Because she belonged to him now. Enzo was going to play with her just like how a wolf plays with its prey.
