I'm running.
But why?
All I can hear is the sound of heavy footsteps behind me. Someone is chasing me.
"Help!" I let out a small squeak when I fall to the ground, tripping on a rock in front of me.
The footsteps get heavier, and suddenly it feels like someone cloaked in darkness descends on me.
"Help? You're an abomination! A shifter without her wolf. A shame!" The voice closes in on me, and it sounds like it's coming from everywhere around me.
Please, no. I want to scream out but my tongue feels heavy in my mouth.
Why can't I speak?
I push myself back, away from the person crowding me. It's not just one face, but a mass of distorted faces, morphing into one.
"Kill her!"
"Behead her!"
They're all shouting, screaming at me. Yet my voice remains trapped.
