Adrian’s blood ran cold. He grabbed his assistant by the collar and snarled, “What the hell are you talking about? How much did Evelyn pay you to come tell this lie for her?”
The assistant looked like he wanted to cry. “I’m not lying, Mr. Carter! It’s all true! The hospital has the medical records, the police station has the death certificate on file. Ms. Hart’s grandma died because she couldn’t get the surgery in time. I brought all the proof with me. If you don’t believe me, we can go double-check right now!”
Adrian drilled the assistant with a deathly glare.
But once he realized the man wasn’t lying, every last bit of strength drained out of his body in an instant.
The assistant handed over the death certificate first, then the security footage pulled from the hospital.
