Chapter Twenty-Four: Sand, Sun & One Big Villa

670 Words
After Lia’s graduation — and after so many busy months balancing the café, the water business, music lessons, and the never-ending swirl of QR codes and pastry trays — Stacy and Tim decided it was time for a real break. This time, not just a quick overnight at a nearby campsite, not just a day at the riverside — but a proper holiday. So they booked it — a stunning 5-day stay at a quiet beach resort, tucked away on a long stretch of sand where the sea was gentle, the breeze constant, and the sunsets worth every last cent. One Big Villa When they arrived — Stacy’s parents, her sister and nephews, Tim’s parents, his sisters, his brothers and their families, Rosie, Sandy, and the children darting between their legs — they all stood for a moment in awe. The villa was massive. Big enough for everyone, with whitewashed walls, wide glass doors that opened to an infinity pool that kissed the edge of the sand. Beyond that, the calm blue ocean shimmered under the noon sun. Inside, the rooms were cool and airy, the kitchens stocked with fresh fruit, and the long dining table big enough to seat everyone at once — noisy stories, second servings, and all. The First Plunge It didn’t take long for the kids to throw off their slippers and dive into the pool. Lia squealed when Levi and Luca splashed her from both sides, their laughter ringing clear over the rush of waves just steps away. Tim’s brothers set up speakers by the poolside — light music drifting over splashes and chatter while Rosie and Sandy laid out snacks they’d stashed away from the last café stock-up. Stacy’s parents sat by the shallow end, legs dipped in the cool water, watching their grandkids swirl around in a storm of giggles and toy boats. Days of Play The next five days bloomed with sun and saltwater: • Early mornings spent on the sand, where the whole clan split into teams for beach volleyball. Tim, guitar forgotten for once, dove for the ball like he was twenty again, earning a loud cheer from his brothers and a teasing whistle from Stacy. • Midday kayaking adventures, where the nephews took turns paddling Lia and the twins out just far enough to squeal at small fish darting beneath the clear water. • Sandcastles rising and crumbling at the shoreline — Luca proudly crowned each new mound with a stray shell while Levi made a moat that inevitably soaked his shirt. • Quiet afternoons when Stacy and Tim floated lazily in the infinity pool, eyes closed, waves whispering nearby, knowing the kids were safe and happy in the shade with grandparents and cousins. Evenings felt soft and golden — grilled seafood on the villa’s big deck, karaoke echoing under the moonlight. Tim’s sisters danced barefoot with Sandy and Rosie. Stacy’s sister and nephews laughed over who could hit the highest notes. One night, Lia strummed Tim’s travel guitar by the pool while her brothers banged a gentle beat on overturned pails — their first “beach band,” earning soft applause and proud tears from Mommy Stacy and Mama. A Promise in the Sand On the last night, the whole family gathered at the shoreline, toes sunk in warm sand, waves curling over their ankles. Stacy looked around — parents side by side, kids sleepy but grinning, Tim’s arm draped warmly around her shoulders, the laughter of her nephews mixing with the crash of the sea. They’d built so much together: a café, a house, a family that only grew stronger through storms, drama, and every blessing in disguise. And here — under starlight, with salt in their hair and promise in their bones — she knew they’d do it all again, one chapter at a time. Chapter One Café: Resting for now, lights off back home, but its heartbeat alive in every giggle and wave that carried this family into tomorrow’s next gentle adventure — together, always.
