The college gate.

It was 8 AM.

Karachi heat was still soft.

I walked slowly.

There was less noise in my heart today.

There was only one thing.

Khushi.

I went straight to the canteen.

Everyone else was there. Sana, Lubna, Meher.

They waved.

I just smiled.

I did not stop.

I sat next to Khushi.

Khushi said. "No one else today?"

I said. "No. Only you."

Khushi said. "Good."

She pushed her coffee toward me.

Sana watched from a distance.

She said nothing.

She understood. Sometimes silence is an answer in friendship.

After class we sat on the library stairs.

Empty space.

No noise.

I said. "Ali called."

Khushi said. "I knew."

I said. "He said he is coming."

Khushi said. "And what did you say?"

I said. "Okay."
