Chapter 5

1614 Words
Years passed and seasons changed. Both Noah and Iris were growing up beautifully and were always attached at the hips. Jonathan who was busy expanding his business spent less and less time at the mansion but now in his absence, Iris wasn’t so alone anymore. She had her brother to accompany her and her lonely nights became full of joy and laughter. She had changed from being the lonely crybaby into a lively and playful child ever since Noah became her brother. Despite his protests and unwillingness, he would always become an accomplice in her mischievous schemes to torment the maids. Their petty pranks and cute giggles were never bothersome to the servants who thought them to be as precious as angels but occasionally, Bastion would catch them in the act and scold them severely. Noah would heroically step up and always take the blame for both of them, despite it being Iris’ idea. That was when real chaos would ensue. Iris would get angry and say it was her fault while Noah stood fast in his claims and wouldn’t budge. They would both argue and the argument would quickly escalate into a fight with both children screaming at each other. It always ended with Bastion pulling them apart by the ears and grounding them for the rest of the day. Noah was quietly reading a book when Iris sneaked into his room through the window. Their rooms used to be on different floors in the past but Iris had persistently nagged her father to put her on the same floor as Noah. He had agreed because it wasn’t that big of a request and gave her a room next to his. Had he known that his grown up daughter was using this arrangement to climb over balconies to enter her brother’s room like a thief, he would probably faint. She smiled wickedly when she saw Noah sitting with his back to her. She silently crept behind him to scare him. “Boo!” she exclaimed quietly in his ear and her breath tickled his face. He sat their unfazed by her antics and calmly flipped to the next page. She saw his lips curve a little like he expected her to do that. She frowned and flopped on the couch opposite to him with a pout on her face. “You’re no fun,” she grumbled as she got comfortable in his room. “Can you stop pretending to be a grown up now that you’re in high school? It puts me off to see my little brother being all mature. It’s not cute.” “I’ve always been like this.” He closed the book he was reading and fixed his blue eyes on her. “What’s your excuse for not growing up, elder sister?” “See that?” She leaned forward and pointed at his tone. “That’s what I’m talking about! Since when did you start using sarcasm with me? Where did my cute little brother go who would always agree with me?” He rolled his eyes at her exaggerated reaction and said, “I still agree with everything you do.” “See, I know the only reason why you agree with me is so that you can keep me out of trouble.” He smiled as he got up to return the book he was reading back to the shelf. His room was more like a library than a bedroom. He said it was a hassle to go to the study every time he felt like reading so Jonathan created a small library for him in his room. She watched him from the side observing the changes in his appearance over the years; his white hair was slightly blonde now and fell in waves over his ears, his pale skin was unchanged without any blemishes and his eyes were a little sharper now. The biggest change, however, was his height. He had grown exponentially over last summer. One day, when dad suddenly returned to the mansion from one of his business trips and saw Noah’s silhouette in the doorway, he accidentally mistook him for an intruder and almost had a heart attack. That day Iris realized her father was quite faint of heart. She scoffed childishly; thinking just because Noah was over six feet he must think he was mature now. He caught her staring at him and his smile grew wider. “I’m impressed. At least, you’re self-aware.” She blushed when she heard the sarcasm in his voice and threw the cushion at him. “You’re infuriating, you know that?” He caught the cushion in his hands and grinned. “It’s because your angry face is so cute that I can’t help myself.” She got up from her spot then suddenly stomped her way towards him. He unconsciously backed up a little when he saw the determined look in her eyes but the shelf behind him stopped him from moving any further. She placed one hand beside him, trapping him and then looked at him with narrowed eyes. He squirmed, uneasy because of the close proximity and she smirked. “My little brother seems to have forgotten his manners. Do I have to remind you who’s the older one? Besides, aren’t you about to become a freshman at my high school? Are you sure you want to mess with this senior?” She was threatening him. She knew she was being far more childish but she couldn’t help herself. Just as he enjoyed teasing her, she also enjoyed teasing him in return. He was frozen for a moment then suddenly his body jerked into motion and he leaned closer, startling Iris. “And what if I do?” he inhaled her scent and looked at her sideways. “What if I do want to mess with this senior? What are you going to do about it?” Her brows fell, her temper reaching its peak as she was always the one with the short fuse. “Well then my cute little brother, you picked the wrong person to mess with.” With that she wasted no time and began her tickle attack. Noah buckled over under the onslaught and trembled with restrained laughter as her hands showed no sign of relenting. She spared none of his sensitive spots, wriggling her fingers in his armpits, his flanks, his neck and giggled as she saw him squirm. He held her by the shoulder and suddenly pushed her to the couch that was behind her. She squealed in surprise and held his shirt to stop herself from falling but instead he fell along with her. Both of them were panting heavily on the couch by the end and Iris groaned under Noah’s weight. “Get off, you octopus!” she tried to push her clingy brother off of her but he had already wrapped his arms around her waist. “I caught you, now you have to stay like this for as long as I want.” Look who’s acting childish now. Where did all your maturity go? Iris grumbled inwardly.  “Noah, if you wanted a hug, all you had to do was ask. You’re cuter when you’re being honest.” “I’m being honest now.” He didn’t budge and she couldn’t help but sigh helplessly as she made a feeble attempt to squirm out of his arms again. Iris knew Noah was clingy ever since they were children. Iris was no different but she grew out of it as she aged. Noah, however, was still insecure and dependent on her. So she couldn’t find the strength to push him away. “Yes, I can see that.” She looked to her side and saw his face buried in her neck. His soft hair tickled her and she felt like karma was getting back at her for pestering her innocent brother. Slowly, after what felt like ages, Noah raised his head and gazed at Iris with a dark look in his eyes. She blinked, not used to seeing that expression on his face. It felt like it wasn’t his sister he was looking at but a prey. She shivered and Noah felt her unease. He schooled his expression and got off the couch, pulling Iris up with him. She studied his face but there was no sign of that expression again. His hands lingered on her elbows before letting her go. “What’s wrong, Noah?” she asked becoming worried when he was silent for too long. “Did I accidentally hurt you somewhere?” With a defeated look, he shook his head. “That’s not...” He looked at her again and repeated in a soft mumble, “That’s not it.” “I definitely hurt you, didn’t I?” She frowned; worry creasing her forehead as her amber eyes scanned his body. “You don’t have to be manly about it.  Come on, show me where it hurts.” “It doesn’t hurt anywhere.” He quickly reassured her, pulling her eyes back to his face. “I’m fine so you should go before Bastion finds your room empty and gives us both an earful.” She gave him a dubious look but obliged saying she’ll check on him again after dinner. When she had left through the window, only then did he let go of the breath he was holding. It’s not me you should be worried about, Iris. He thought as he looked down at his erection that was bulging through his trousers. Sighing heavily, he grabbed the cushion she had fallen on top of and inhaled her scent. Imagining her slender figure and those enchanting amber eyes, her long black hair that had sprawled across the couch as she lay beneath him, he pulled down his trousers and in a few minutes, the sound of his grunts filled the air. Iris Iris Iris IRIS! He moaned her name loudly as he finished. Then he hugged the cushion that was full of her scent now mixed with his and lied down on the couch. “I want you, Iris,” he whispered longingly as he fell asleep dreaming of his dear sweet sister.
