No. I had fully latched onto his leg—arms, legs, and every ounce of my pride clinging to him like I was a starving koala and he was the last eucalyptus tree in the forest. So yeah. This was happening. My guilt trap? Flopped. Completely. There was no way Elijah would ever agree to take leave from his work, come to Mystic Fall with me and act as my assistant for the whole damn two weeks. Guilt trap was the only way, but now, it also flopped. Damn, Hazel! How can you be so impulsive? He saw right through me—cracked the code before I could even gloat. I should’ve held it in. Should’ve kept a straight face.
