Boom crash, I hear as my eyes open quickly. I look out the window to see it's still dark. Boom crash, I hear again but this time I can see the lighting strike in the distance. Wondering what time it is I roll over to grab my phone sitting on the nightstand. 4:18 am battery percent 28. Great my phone is gonna die soon I thought as I sat up in bed. Boom crash, the lighting and thunder hit again. I'm never going to get any sleep now.
My throat feels dry as I stand, I grab the matching robe to my gown to slip over my shoulders in the cold night. I make my way out of the hallway. Tip toeing so I don't wake anyone up I wonder to myself where the kitchen is. I remember seeing a guy in a tux come out with a silver dish with a tea pot when I first got here. The door was the only door with two way hinges. And it had what looked to me like a bread plate carved into the top of the door.
After tip toeing my way down the maze of halls I came to the room with the two cream couches. Boom crash, this time the lighting made me jump almost kicking a vase over filled with roses. Carefully I backed away without harm to me or the vase. Trying to remember when I first stepped into the room the couches where on the left, they are now sitting on my right so the kitchen door must now be to the left of me.
As I turn down the small hall on the left I finally found what I was looking for. The bread door with the two way hinges. Slowly I creaked it open and slid through.
Boom crash, the lighting was so brightly lit up the dark area. This helped me a lot to find a light switch. As I flipped the switch the lights came buzzing to life. I was shocked at the sight I seen. The kitchen has a long wooden counter top in the middle behind the counter was two huge restaurant style refrigerators. Hanging from the ceiling over the counter top was all the pots and pans. Whatever size you needed they probably had it hanging from the rack. On the other side of the room there was cabinets upon cabinets. I felt like I was at a*****e that sold nothing but cabinets.
I opened up the first door closest to me, inside was tons of spices. Moved two cabinets down to open that one and found tons of pastas long, short, bow tie, and many more. Next few I open was canned goods tons of canned goods. "Who are these people feeding? Is there an army that comes for breakfast and lunch?" I thought to myself. All the cabinets were filled with food supplies. I just needed a glass to get some water.
Luckily someone has left a glass on the counter to be cleaned in the morning. Quickly I scrubbed out the glass with a scrubber I found resting to the sink. Wondering what they had to drink in the fridge I opened the one of the right, there was nothing but fruits veggies and meats on the bottom. With fingers crossed I open the one on the right. There sat a big pitcher of pink lemonade. I felt like I fit the jackpot when I found it. I pour myself a glass and start to head back to my room. The lemonade tasted so sweet and tart as it hit my lips.
As I was walking something didn't seem right. I think I have gotten lost. But surprisingly enough I ended up finding Edwards study that was lined with tons of books. Is I stepped in the moon shined down from the ceiling. I thought it was pretty neat that the moon could shine through. Boom crash, as I jump again from the storm I bump into a stack of books laying on the floor. I quickly tip toes my way over to his desk to flip on his desk light to see where I was going. To my surprise the stack of books where not books I thought Eddy would read.
One by one I pick them up and look at them. "Pregnancy for beginners, pregnancy for daddies, 101 baby names, pregnancy what you need to know, ex....." all the books were pregnancy books. I felt a warmth in my heart knowing that he was trying to read about pregnancies and babies. Since I was up I figured I should start reading to. I grabbed a book called yes and no's about pregnancy and went and sat on Edwards big comfy chair behind his desk. Before I knew it I was on chapter four when my eyes started to shut.
***
"Alex, Alex." I open my eyes as I hear my name being shouted down the halls and doors slamming. I didn't realize I dosed off reading this pregnancy book. As I sit yawning and rubbing my eye I hear the door open.
" o miss there you are. Edward she is in here she is here." It was one of the guys that run around in there black tux.
Still yawning and rubbing my eyes, " Yes I'm here the magnificent me."
I could hear large boots stomping down the hallway toward the room. Not surprised Edward busts through the door as I still lay curled up on his chair in the silk gown I changed into last night. I could tell he was trying not to stare at me. But I seen his eyes look me up and down a few times before speaking. "Why didn't you sleep in your room?"
"Well I did sleep there then I woke up because of the storm last night, found my way to the kitchen for a drink got lost and ended up here. And I fell asleep reading this awesome pregnancy book you left in a pile for me to trip over and almost fall." I kind of snapped back at him a little on the last part I said. I could see his cheeks get a light pink shade as he looked at the pile of books now scattered all over the floor.
" I'm sorry I will have them picked up off the floor so you don't have to worry." He paused as he took a galp. " how are you liking that book? You can take it with you today if you like"
"It was fine I fell asleep I think on chapter 4 it's a good read." I say as I lay the book on his desk and stand up and walk around the desk to meet him.
I could tell he was trying his hardest not to look down at me. His cheeks began to turn red now from the pink it was before. I slowly move closer to put my hand on his hip. I knew he was trying so hard now not to move but I moved for him. I slowly walked around to his side letting my hand glide against his now hard bulge ready to pop out of his jeans at any moment. Letting my hand glide from his bulge up his chest onto his shoulder. "Now will you show me to my room." I say gently tapping his shoulder with my tips of my fingers.
Before stepping out into the hallway he grabbed the throw he had laying on the back of the chair, " please wrap this around you I don't need my workers to see you in this." It was hard for me not to smile as I wrap myself up like a burrito. Silently we walked back to my room.
"Please get dressed quickly brunch will be served soon." He said before opening the jeweled door to my room. And walking back down the hall were we just came from. I giggle to myself and do as I am told and got dressed quickly. Before I heard a knock at the door.
"Brunch is ready." This little tuxedo man said as he slowly opened my door. B he escorts me down to the dinning hall where all meals at are at. When I walk in Edward is sitting at the end. Ms. Lewis sitting on the right next to another girl about my age. She had long dark curly hair with freckles on her cheeks. I wasn't sure who she was I haven't seen her before.
"Come sit" calls Edward and taps at the place beside him across from Ms. Lewis. I slowly make my way and sit down. I could fell the girl across from me just starring as I eat the first plate of fruit they brought out. I was super hungry I kind of skipped all my meals yesterday because I was sick to my stomach from the club before.
"So Alex this is Willow I want you guys to become friends. She was going to come in tomorrow but we had her come in this morning and have the procedure done." He said right as I was taking a bite of my cereal. I couldn't help and spit it out all out in front of me.
"Your telling me you want me to become friends with a woman who is also going to be carrying your baby. I would highly decline that suggestion." As I look over to willow " I'm sorry you got brought into all this fuckery." I slam my napkin on the table. I got up so fast my chair fell backwards as stormed out of the dining room. Luckily someone brought my bag from my room and laid it on the fancy cream couch.
I needed to go home anyways, I grabbed my bag and headed for the door when I heard boots running on the hardwood floor hallway. I quickly scooted out the front door and ran down the to gate. "Alex Wait" I heard behind me as I was waiting for the gate to finally open. "I don't want to hear it" I shouted back and I started walking down the street.
I got half way down the hill when I checked my phone it started to blink red. O just my luck battery is dead. I wasn't to sure about this town since I don't come to the fancier side but I knew at the bottom of the hill there is a gas station maybe they will have a pay phone so I could call a cab to get back home.
After 15 mins of walking I found a bench so I decided to take a small break. I couldn't help myself as the tears started to flow down my cheeks. I ask myself again what was I thinking going through with yesterday. I wanted to help him so bad but seeing that other girl made me get jealous. I take a beep breath and think can my hormones be changing this quickly? It's only been a day. Shaking that thought out of my head a see a black car pull up in front of me rolling its windows down. "Miss Alex. I've come to take you home please get in the car." I don't believe I have another choice so I got myself up and opened up the back and climbed in.
"Do you know my address?" I asked but knowing Edward he probably already knows everything about me. "Yes miss" He replies as we start to drive down the road.
It was a quiet ride but I made it back to my grandfathers house. Quickly I run inside because it has started to rain again. As soon as I walked through the doors ms kitters started to meow at me for food. "Yes i know kitters I'll get it" the last bottom cabinet in my kitchen was all for ms kitters it was jam packed with canned food and treats. Her favorite is the chicken liver so I cut a can open and plopped the meat onto a plate. The smell of her food made my stomach turn. So I went ahead and put on a pot of tea to boil.
Ginger mint tea always helps with an upset stomach my mom used to make it for us while we were kids. As I waited for my tea pot to wistful I plugged my phone in and grabbed a blanket from the ottoman to sit with on the couch. Beep beep buzz buzz my phone kept going off. It was Becka texting and 13 missed calls.
Ring ring my phone went off again it was Becka so I decided to answer.
"Hey Becka"
" girl I've been texting you and calling I thought someone killed you yesterday"
"Your funny. My phone died and the storm last night fried my cord so I hand to go get a replacement so for not replying back"
" girl you know you was not home last night I came over twice and knocked on your door with no answer I was about to call the cops to come bust down your door if I didn't hear from you today"
"No don't do that I'm alive and well just disappointed in myself because I did something really stupid"
"Alex don't tell me you answers the ad you were talking to me about"
"Well Becka I actually did" I said with a sigh.
" girl what have you gotten into was this guy a freak and just wanted s*x?"
"Surprisingly no he is very handsome. His wife was pregnant." Before she could let me talk any further she stopped me.
"Wo wo wo his wife is pregnant and they are still looking for women who can pop out a couple of babies?"
The kettle screams and whistles. "Becka one sec tea is ready". I sat the phone down and quickly rushed over to the kettle and bringing it back to the couch to pour a nice cup of tea.
Picking up the phone I started to continue the story " Becka his wife was pregnant yes but she suddenly passed away before the baby was born. He said the doctors tried everything to save the baby but it wasn't enough he was to young for outside the womb."
"Wow Alex you got some heart to be able to carry a baby for a guy who's wife and kid died so when are you going to do you know the jiggy jiggy?"
"Jiggy jiggy? Um what?"
"Come on Alex when are you gonna f**k the dude so he can impregnate you?"
"Well first I'm not having s*x with him and two I already did the insemination yesterday afternoon."
" you have got to be kidding me Alex" I could hear her voice change in disappointment.
"We will know if it took in 4 weeks" I wait silently waiting for a response.
"Well Alex you already did the deed so there is no turning back and I can't fight you about it, should I say congratulations on your giveaway baby?"
"Who knows sometimes this doesn't stick the first time so I might not even get pregnant"
"Well if you don't get pregnant are you going to try it again."
"I'm not sure Becka. I think I might not just to save me from being guilty for a failure for the second time"
"Yeah That is a possibility it will fail a second time these things are never a guarantee thing." Becka said before she said her goodbyes and hung up the phone.
I sit in silence on the couch. It is now almost six o'clock. It is time for dinner but I don't feel like eating. The worry of failure, and the unknown is weighting heavy on my shoulders. The thought of a failed pregnancy makes me sick enough that I have to run to the bathroom to throw up. This feeling was truly not what I thought I would felt.
I grab a soft blanket from the hall closet before returning to sit on my couch. Luckily I had a few sips of tea left to get the stench out of my mouth, sitting on the coffee table. As I lay here I could here kitters playing with her favorite stuffed fish in the hallway. Once I get comfortable my mind slips away and I doze off before falling into a deep sleep for the night.
