The Carrier

White floor, white walls, white everything. All I could see was white as I walked into the room. To the left the counter a tray sat filled with KY jelly packets, swabs, gloves, a Doppler and a blood pressure cuff. To the right was a table lined with paper and stirrups you put your feet in while you get an exam at an OBGYN. Next to the table was an ultra sound machine. I was in shock when I stood there. With a shaky voice I managed to say, " Eddy this is a full operation."

   "Yes Alex I know. The doctor will be in the room shortly he would like you to take off everything fully, and put on the rope with the opening facing front, after you are ready knock on the door three times and I will come back in."

   "Wait you are going to come back in?" I say as I grab Eddy's hand for reassurance.

   "Yes I will come back in because I know you are nervous. I want to be there for support." I nod as he slips out the door.

   I can't believe this is really happening and so quickly. I took my time. First taking my shorts off and folding them into place on the chair in the corner. I do the same with my blouse. Fallowed my by thong and bra. At first I couldn't figure out how the gown went, but I got it right and sat on the table and laid an extra cloth over my lap. I took three deep breaths as I knocked One. Two. Three. On the old white oak door. Slowly it cracks open as Eddy peaks his head in. "Are you ready" I shake my head yes as he takes a seat by my side.

   I've done this exam before when I was 14. When I got my first period. Now I fell like my 14 year old self nervously waiting to get it done and over with. I felt like I was in a dream. Waiting listening waiting some more in nothing but the white abyss of this room closing on me getting smaller and smaller. I snap out of it when I heard the doctor come in I turned to look. Thankfully I was a woman. My nerves subsided when she walked in.

   "So Alex are your ready for the exam? I know it was a little rushed but I will go over a few things just like a regular obgyn exam and then we will preform an ultrasound." I took a deep breath and shook my head yes.

  First we did my blood pressure, next she had me lay back on the table. Next was a breast exam. First she walked over to my right side, undid the robe and exposed my breast. Instantly my n****e grew hard as she started to feel and press to my skin. "Your breast is sensitive I see, very good for breast feeding." She said as she finished with the right side and moved to the left. Again she moves the robe to press my breast, and once again I could feel my n****e get harder. "You will be able to breast feed on both side that is very good" she adds as she closes my robe.

   I couldn't help but glance over to Edwards direction surprisingly enough he sat with his back turned to me to give me some privacy. I thought that was actually sweet of him to do. Next came a vaginal exam. She had me put my heals up and my legs wide.  I was super nervous so I reached and touched Edwards shoulder luckily he was close enough to touch. He was nice enough to reach back and hold my hand.

  Before the doctor sat in between my legs, she wrote down some notes on my chart. I'm not sure what or why. After she slipped on a new glove she came to sat between my legs. I could hear the squirt of the KY jelly come out of the packet as she prepared for the exam. "You might feel cold a wet for a second and you might have a little pressure as well" she added as she inserted her fingers into my v****a. It was indeed cold and wet. I could feel her getting deeper in to feel my cervix.

   I started to feel pressure more pressure as the seconds ticked by. I squeezed eddy hand for reassurance as the doctor pressed on my stomach as well. "Ugh" I moan from the pressure. "Your cervix is fantastic, I actually think you are going to be ready today."

  "Ready today for what?" I could feel my skin run pale.

   "The procedure. We have to do an ultrasound to be sure." She added as she removed her glove from doing a cervix exam. " let me start up the ultrasound and see what we got."

   Click, buzz, the machine roared to life. "The start up will take a few minutes I just be patient." She added as she left the room.

  I laid there in silence.

   "Alex, you don't have to do the procedure today if you don't want to." Eddy said after a long silence.

   "It's ok. Eddy I'm doing this for you to have a family. Don't worry it will be fine." I squeezed his hand to reassure him this time as the doctor came back in the room. She was holding a baton. It looked like a blue dildo I got for my birthday when I was 21 from Becka. I tried not to giggle.

  " ok Alex. We are going to see if your cervix is actually ready today. This is a baton. It's kind of like a dildo but it allows use to see into your cervix." She explains to me as she put a condom over the baton for protection and a little KY jelly on the tip to help guide its way in. "Ok Alex here we go."  Slowly she slides the baton in my vaginal cavity. It's slightly bigger feeling then a regular dildo. "Alex your going to feel a lot of pressure because I have to get up into the cervix." I shake my head yes as the pressure begins.

  "O look here." As the doctor points to the screen I turn to look as well. "See this little black dot in the side of your cervix. That is what we are looking for to start a procedure. That black dot right there is your egg." The doctor was to excited when she seen the ultrasound.

   "That is very neat." I added in the awkwardness between the three of us in the room.

   "Ok Edward" The doctor added, " it's your turn now" she said as she handed him a sterile cup. I knew exactly what was about to happen. Eddy took the cup and went into the next room. It was silent as I waited laying there while the doctor sits beside me. I look at the clock. Tic Tock Tic the clock went. Five minutes pass. Then ten minutes. I could her a very faint moaning coming from the next room. I thought to myself he must be watching porn to get the deed done and over with. Tic Tock Tic another twenty minutes go by when eddy finally came back into the room.

  As a bead of sweet fell from his head he handed the doctor the cup. With a quick glance I see almost half of the cup is filled. Damn I think to myself he must of really been storing it up in there. I try not to giggle.

   Cling cling, I heard as I look over the drape on my legs, she is getting out all the supplies needed to do the insemination. More Jelly and a long and thin pipette attached to a syringe. As she prepares Edwards contribution I grab Eddy's hand one last time and pull him closer to lay a kiss on his knuckles. I could see the smile grow and a tear starts to form and run down his cheek.

   "Ok Edward, Alex here we go" she said as she plopped a big glob of jelly on my stomach so the ultrasound could slide better. Once she gets the picture on the screen in the correct placement she glides the thin pipette into where the cervix will be. On the screen you can see the very tip of the pipette as she slowly presses the syringe down to release Edwards sperm into my cervix. "Alright guys congratulations! Alex you need to wait at least 4 weeks before you take a pregnancy test. Usually at 4 weeks a pregnancy test will pick up any pregnancy."

   Slowly I sat up and Edward helped me up to my feet as the doctor took everything away to the next room. "Are you alright do you feel sick? Do you need anything? Should I get you a drink? We have cookies in the kitchen, would you like one?" Edwards month opened up like a river damn exploded. Question after question.

  "Eddy Eddy, I'm fine. I just need to rest a little and lay down in bed. It's going to be ok." I say as I as starting to get dressed. I still can't believe this all took place today. I can't believe I am helping a guy I just met yesterday while bumping into him at the coffee shop have a baby. What was I thinking. Omg I can't go back now I can only move forward. In 4 weeks we will know if my little egg gets fertilized or not.

  "Alex if you like you can stay here for the night it is already dark and I don't want you to go out in the dark alone" I walk over to the window he was right. The sun was down already. One night won't hurt in this palace of a place.

  "Sure Eddy I'll stay but only for this night I have to go home tomorrow I have work Monday."

   "That is fine by me Alex" as he said lifting me up into his arms.

   "What is this about eddy let me down!"

   "Well you need to rest and walking to your room takes a lot of energy so I'm gonna carry you there" looking at me with a big grin on his face. I just shook my head and let him be. We walked back up the creepy hallway with all the hospital windows. And back up the hallway draped in red. Finally we end up in a hallway lined with black and purple lace. It was the most beautiful hallway I couldn't help but look around. There where three doors one covered in fake fruits of pears and grapes, the other had a picture of a lamb on it and the last one had a purple jewel in the center surrounded by white pearls.

   I wondered what room I would be in, truly I would end up in a fruit room. I thought but he kept walking, I guess I'm a lamb, but he kept walking until we got the the jeweled door.

  "Welcome to your room. Also if you need to stay more nights during the 9 months this room is all for you!" He said as he opened the door and walked me in to lay me gently on the bed.

  "Wow this room is beautiful." The room matches the hallway black and purple lace lined the walls accented by white pearls. The bed had four posts holding up a chiffon white drape. "This is like a castle I feel like royalty." I heard a chuckle after I said that.

   "You are to funny Alex please get some rest I will see you in the morning:" eddy slowly shut the door behind him after exiting the room.

  This is unreal! It must be amazing to always sleep in a room like this. I couldn't help it I had to get up and look around. First I seen a door on the fare side of the room surely it's a closet. I skip over place my hand on the pearl handle and slowly open the door making sure I don't make any creaks. To my surprise it was a bathroom with a big tub in the center. It had a marbled look to it. "Wow you could probably fit five people in that tube," I look to the left a three sink vanity. Boy Becka would love this to do her makeup at. And on the right is a huge walk in shower  with shower heads pointing at you in all sides. I never seen a shower like that since I went to Hawaii on vacation.

  After my shock settled a bit I came back into the bedroom. There was a cabinet to the left as you walk out of the bathroom door. Me being the curious person I am I had to go open it. To my surprise it was full of silk night gowns and robes. One of the nightgowns caught my eye it was blush rose with gold lace trim with a small beaded flower in the center of the cleavage. I didn't want to bother anyone so I quickly put it on anyways, the silk glade over my body like a glove. It was the perfect fit to my shape. "But not for long if this little bug sticks." I thought.

  Catching myself  wondering I walk over to the old full length mirror in the corner, you could tell is was older because it had its own stand and also was oval shaped with wood carvings at the top and bottom. I look up and down at my body. Slowly I pull the gown up to expose my belly. Turning to the side I rest one hand on the bottom and one at the top. How I see pregnant women hold their pregnancy bellies in magazine ads. I try and think of my belly being big  round. I shake that thought away telling myself it probably won't stick the first time around.

  As I pull my gown down I walk over to the bed and crawl in like a crab. The bed is so big I could probably lay here with 50 cats and still have more room to spare. The moon was shining from the window as I lay watching a shooting star darts across the sky. Please let this bug stick I wish as I close my eyes for the night.
