The moon light shined as the door swung open with a face of shock and horror eddy stepped through the door. Tears running down his face as he stepped forward into my embrace.

Silence. The room was so quiet almost to quiet you could hear the sound of bats wings flying past the window.

“Willow is in a coma now” eddy said to break the tension in the room. “The doc said that she will remain in a coma until it is time for her to give birth then he will preform surgery to deliver the baby”

Shocked wouldn’t be the word to describe the feeling I am having. No words could describe what I just heard come from eddys mouth.

Without saying anything I gestured eddy to lay down on the bed. It was already almost 11 o’clock, as soon as his head hit the pillow he was fast asleep.

Looking at the clock it read 3 am. Eddy was still asleep beside me but the babies said it’s time to wake up. It’s been a rough couple of weeks since willow as been in the hospital wing.

Slipping out of our room without creaking the door I made my way to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Normally I was have water in my room but I haven’t had it refilled tonight.

As I waddle myself down the hall a ladies maid is running toward me “ wants the matter” I say as i try to stop her.

“I cant stop got to get the prince willows water broke the baby is coming” she yelled as she ran past me.

Shock and worry came to me so I started to speed walk toward the hospital wing. Shockingly I didn’t make it to fare before I heard “Alex what are you doing out of bed” come up behind me.

“ eddy I was going to get water then the lady maid ran past me shouting about willow and…” I stopped talking mid sentence as I grabbed onto eddys arms for balance. Wetness filled my pajama shorts. With wide eyes I look down to the pool of water at my feet then look at eddy in shock as I think this can not be happening.

Gripping onto his arms harder he says” um Alex I think we are having babies today” as he started to chuckle.

Breathing through this first couple intense contractions we stood in the middle of the hall when the doc came down to find eddy” eddy we are taking willow into surgery now we were waiting on you but it looks like you were stopped”

Now that I can stand up straight saying sarcastically “ no we where just practicing our royal routine swing lake” and pointed to all the water on the floor before heavy breathing again to get through another contraction.

“Well I guess the twins want to make there arrival today, ed can you get Alex to the hospital wing I will send in a nurse in when I am done with surgery on willow.” As the doctor walked away eddy scooped me up into his arms quickly to get down the hall faster then I could just walking.

Once I’m the hospital wing eddy sat me down on the bed in room A1. Quickly the door swung open with a few nurses and they get to work. One helped me change into my gown. The next one hooked me up to the monitors as the ultrasound was wheeled in. “We want to see how the babies are sitting, you might be able to push these babies out on your own and not need a sea section.”

One thing I was hoping for was to experience natural child birth. As she pointed to the monitor she added.” Looked like baby boy is head down. But baby girl is breach. We can have you deliver baby boy and then we can either turn baby girl or, if we have to, we can do a breach birth or sea section but we won’t know until baby boy is born. Next let’s check you,” nurses held both of my legs up for me while she changed her gloves.

“OK ready, you might feel a little pressure” as she slid her fingers into me to check my cervix. It felt like fire. This was something I have never experienced before and I hated it. “ you are at 2-3 cm so you got a ways to go. Do you want an epy? This will help you relax a bit.” Shaking my head, yes, I breathed through the next contraction. Eddy had stepped out of the room when all the nurses came in and I hadn’t noticed till now.

Beep Beep Beep filled the room as everyone left, leaving me there all along. Beep Beep Beep. Is all i hear in my ear as I grab onto the side of the bed to brace myself for another contraction. I really wish Eddy was in the room with me, I thought to myself, as the pain got unbearable so I screamed. The scream was like a lion who just got his big feast in the savannah.

Nurses rushed in with the doc who pushed in a chart with medical supplies on top. The next few minutes felt like the blur as the nurses helped me sit up "one breath in". I felt a piercing pain in the bottom of my back. Then I finally felt relief that I had been craving. Slowly lying back down, the nurses covered me with a blanket. "Get some rest now" I heard as I closed my eyes to sleep.

Beep Beep Beep. Again, is all I hear as I open my eyes to an empty room. Knock knock fallowed by “Alex it’s time to check you to see how you been progressing.” Water kicks on as the nurse washes her hands before applying gloves. “Legs wide, you are gonna feel pressure.” Taking a deep breath I could feel the fire in my core again. “You are at 6 cm, not bad for sleeping for 3 hours”

I was asleep for 3 hours I thought to myself before blurting out “ where is eddy”

“He has been in a few times while you were sleeping but he is a little busy right now with Pelia.”

Tears running down my face I added “ how is Willow. Did she get to hold her, how is she doing with feeding is she breast or bottle feeding…” I had so many questions to answer before the nurse grabbed my hand to stop me.

“We wanted to wait to tell you but since you have a lot of questions. Unfortunately Willow passed away after Pelia was born. There was a short window of time that we kept Willow alive to do about 20 mins of skin to skin contact. Shortly taking Pelia back to the nicu Willows heart stopped.” Wiping away her tear she added. “ eddy has been with Pelia the whole time he has been really struggling with caring for her. She hasn’t taken a bottle yet. So we had to intervene and do a tube feeding of formula.”

My face must of went into shock as the nurse squeezed my hand before exiting the room. I couldn’t help but cry for this baby who wasn’t my own her life has changed in the matter of mins. Loosing a mom and she doesn’t even know yet.

I sat in silence with myself for the next 2 hours. Beep beep beep. Echoed the room. Glancing over at the monitor I could see that my contractions was starting to get stronger which was starting to feel noticeable but was still bearable.

Knock knock broke the silent room “time to check again” again same old water running fallowing by the ring of fire. “7 ish almost to an 8 cm.” “We have about 2 cm to go them it will be time to push” she added tossing her gloves into the trash can before exiting.

I’m so close yet so fare away I thought. I close my eyes to focus on my breathing. Deep breath in hole 1234 breath out 4321 in and out in and out. Beep beep beep. I tried to relax but the empty room has been killing me inside I wanted eddy to be by my side. Here to hold my hand, here to rub my back, here to kiss me to tell me it’s going to be alright.

Throwing the thoughts out of my head, told myself I can do this I’ve already done it this fate. One last breath in before I heard beep beep cry beep beep cry. I thought I was imagining the noises before hearing the cries again. Fallowed by a muffled deep voice. Is that eddy! I propped myself up to see if I could hear more clearly.

Crying fallowed by she isn’t eating, is what I could make out. Cry’s fallowed by she won’t take a bottle Cry’s fallowed by someone else saying calm down. It’s like my body knew what to do as I continued to hear the cry of desperation. My breast became tender, looking down my down was soaked with 2 circles where my n*****s started to leak.

Quickly I pressed the red call button to alert the nurses. The door burst open as 3 nurses came in fallowed by eddy holding crying Pelia in his hands.

Propping myself up again I reached my hands out to eddy “ give me the baby”

Eddy looks at the nurses confused then down at Pelia then back at me then back at the nurses before one of them chimed in “eddy it’s alright give her Pelia”

Slowly eddy walked over to me and placed her in my arms she was still crying. “You must be hungry little one” I say out loud as I slowly drop my gown to expose my breast. Holding her head with one hand and guiding my n****e I expressed a little bit of milk into her mouth before helping her latch. She began sucking and nursing right away.

“Eddy she is hungry I heard her crying and even tho I haven’t gave birth yet my milk came in” without saying another word eddy was already by my side and planting a kiss onto my forehead while rubbing my back.

“Alex I can’t do this without you.” He added wiping away his tears before they fell onto Pelia.

Giving him a small kiss on his lips I added “and I can’t do this without you.”

Pelia nursed for a good 20-30 mins before falling asleep. Eddy willed in a bassinet into the room so that we could lay her down to sleep.

“Alex we need to check you again” same thing happened as before running water the snap of a fresh glove placed on her hand and the fire. “Alex you are at 8 1/2 almost 9 cm shouldn’t he long until you start pushing. Let us double check with the ultrasound to make sure nobody flipped.” Another nurse rolled on the cart as the nurse would was already there squirted jelly onto my belly.

“Yep there he is right where we want his to be” she said while moving the probe around on my watermelon of a belly, “ o and baby girl actually turned some so she might be headed face down as well after her brother so let’s fingers crossed it happens that way”

“After I deliver the first baby does it take to deliver the second baby” I asked

“Sometimes it takes seconds or mins. We don’t leave you for hours tho if she isn’t delivered within an hour of her brother we will need to do a sea section.”

She turned to walk out of the room before she did I stopped her, “ nurse, I’m feeling a lot of pressure it almost feels like I have to used the bathroom.” Quickly she puts on a second pair of gloves to check me.

“Wow that was quick your at 9cm it’s time to push let me ring the doctor”
