Alessia. A strangled sound left my lips immediately I was alone. What the hell?! I let out hot breaths through my nose while I glared at the closed door. I clenched my fists, but ultimately unclenched them because what more could I do? I needed this job and that damned jerk knew it too. I dragged myself over to the trolley of documents and decided to get started immediately. There was no way I was staying here past six, I wouldn't allow it. An hour in, i cursed while looking at the barely dented heap of files while having my tablet filled up. "Isn't this supposed to be a multi million dollar enterprise? Why are they using so much paper anyways?" I muttered. And to top it off, he had dropped in thirty minutes before to let me know that I needed to enter it into the company's database. He had said all these was for "security", security my ass! I hadn't missed the way his lip tilted when he'd said it. All these orders were just to make my life difficult for being wrongly inseminated. It's not like it was my fault, but the hard head refused to hear it. If anyone should be blamed, it should be that hospital. They were one of the root causes of why I was experiencing so much stress now. It definitely couldn't be good for the baby. The baby... I patted my poor stomach, then leaned back on my desk and stretched like a cat. Tiredness had started to creep into my bones and I hadn't made it to noon. I shuddered to think of what was waiting for me then because that was break time. But, going with his train of thought, it was definitely more work. "Oh, Alessia, how could you get yourself into this?" By the time break time rolled around, I had already been through two mental breakdowns and had my fair share of paper cuts. I made sure to be right on time because he would probably use that against me too. I knocked, and he called for me to "come in" in his gruff voice. "I'm here like you asked Sir." His head was bowed over a few documents, and he didn't look up. He just waved his hand over to the side while he continued to work. Twenty minutes passed, and I was already getting agitated. This was supposed to be my break damnit, not a "how long can Alessia go without losing her temper" time. But I endured somehow and whiled away the time by drumming my restless fingers against my side. "Oh, right, you're here," he mumbled, like I wasn't directly in his line of vision. Breathe Alessia, I told myself. He was only doing this to rile me up and I would not give him the satisfaction of getting what he wanted. "See those documents over there..." He started. If he asked me to file some more of these, I was going to lose my mind. I had barely made it through half of the ones I already had. "Don't go having that look on your face, you're not filing these away if that's what you're thinking," he said, but I knew better than to let out a sigh of relief. There was more, I could feel it coming. "These documents have the names of the people that it needs to get to. Do well and see to it that they receive it," he said, then went back to scanning the documents in front of him. I stared, stunned. This heap, although wasn't as large as the one in my office, was still a hefty amount of paper. Again, why didn't we just email it to them? "Why are you still standing there? Get moving, these aren't going to deliver themselves," he said without raising his head up. I shuffled over to the box of documents and lifted them. I was almost on my way out when he so graciously remembered something else. "Some of them will give some papers in return so don't mix them up. You can do that right?" "Yes Sir, I can." "Oh, and how is the filing process going?" He asked, and this time he looked up, his eyes glimmering when he saw my evidently tired state. "It's going fine Sir." "Hmm, good. Now, close the door on your way out." I did, but slammed it louder than necessary in an act of defiance. I needed to get my revenge somehow. I was over Tuesday by the time I had gotten on the elevator more times than I could count. What made my blood boil was the fact some of the other employees looked at me like I had lost my mind when I explained what I had come to do. Apparently, they did the chortling of documents individually while having received or sent a soft copy prior. The only thing I heard from this explanation was that I was doing part of the work for a good number of employees and only God knew how long I would keep this up for. The only good thing about my trip around the building was that I was able to smuggle some food into my system before I passed out from exhaustion. At least two of my co workers had pointed out how faint I looked and they didn't know how right they were. I was literally suffering from a blood disease, but I wouldn't let that weigh me down now. Pushing all thoughts aside, I rushed back to his office and dumped the box of files in the place I had found them. He barely acknowledged me which I didn't mind at all, it meant no extra tasks to me. But in case he was feeling like throwing more surprises, I left his office as fast as I had come before he had other ideas. It was back to filing away documents... The sky had already began to fade into orange but I didn't need to see the sky to know that it was early dusk. The clock on the wall did that just fine. I stared at the documents which I had managed to get passed half of, and a long tired sigh left my lips. I was screwed.
