The morning light fell on her face, breaking her deep sleep. The melodious singing of the birds signalled the start of the day. She opened her eyes slowly, feeling relaxed… and well slept. As she stretched her limbs, her eyes fell on the side table… That’s a recent addition. When did mom buy that?… she thought. She raised herself up on her elbow to get a closer look, and that’s when she noticed the walls and the rustic décor. It did not look familiar… She looked around and saw the headboard… This was not her bed… This was not even her room… Where was she? She bolted upright in the bed… the unfamiliar surroundings disrupting her peaceful state of mind from a few minutes before… filling her with panic.
