Chapter 20

I was on my way home after a shift at the coffee shop. Home. It feels good to say that. Ry and I moved everything from my dorm room into our apartment now. Harrison was sad to see me go but he barely saw me anyway considering I stayed with Ryder all the time.

On the plus side, he gets the dorm to himself with Brandi until he gets a new roommate. Although, he hopes no one bursts his new personal bubble.

I unlock the door and April is immediately greeting me with loud meows.

"Aww girl, did you miss me?" I coo, bending down to stroke her soft fur. She starts pacing through my legs, rubbing herself against my legs. I giggled and picked her up walking further into the apartment.

"Where's daddy?" I asked her in a soft voice, scratching her head.

"Meow" she started to purr. Then a buzzing noise sounded from the other room and my thoughts ran back to the first time I came in to the apartment hearing intriguing sounds coming from the bedroom.

I got excited and set April on her cat stand with a sprinkle of catnip to keep her occupied before walking back to the bedroom.

Boo. To my disappointment, Ry was not naked and playing with a vibrator.

"Whatcha doing?"I asked over the small drill he was using on the headboard. He stopped, put down the drill and looked back at me.

"I bought us something" he beamed and I raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

Walking closer I saw that he was starting to screw in eye screws. I puzzled it together and a blush rose on my cheeks. He giggled before crawling off the bed and to the closet.

"Open this" he said as he walked back into the room. He handed me the box and I opened it quickly. In the box laid four black and dark blue handcuff restraints. My fingers felt the blue fur like material.

"Oooh soft" I commented.

"I didn't want to do regular cuffs or even the fuzzy ones because I felt like they would still be uncomfortable so I figured these would be more comfortable" he told me while also running his fingers over the softness.

"I didn't think you were serious about the uh.. handcuffs" my blush is still very evident.

"Oh....I'm sorry. I can return them" he said sheepishly as he bit his lip.

"No, no it's fine. I like them, I just didn't think you'd actually be into it" I nervously chuckled. His whole demeanor changed and stepped closer to me.

"We can try a whole bunch of things if you wanted" he purred while his hands went to my waist, pulling me against him. I set the box on the bed before my hands made their way to his ass, squeezing the firm globes.

"I think I'd be down for that" I said lowly, our lips coming together in a heated kiss.

Just then a loud buzz came from the living room, interrupting our moment.

"That'd be Jace and the brothers" I sighed.

"They're staying at a hotel, mon amour. Don't be too sad they interrupted at this moment" he nipped my bottom lip. "We'll have plenty of time later"

"Good point" I told him, pecking his lips as the buzzer sounded again. I hurriedly walked to the intercom.

"Impatient much" I said into the speaker before buzzing them inside the complex. A few minutes later, I heard their voices in the hallway so I opened the door before they could knock.

"Did we come at a bad time?" Jace teased.

"Yes" I deadpanned and he ruffled my hair.

"Awww, sorry Mattsy"

"No you're not" I scoffed.

"Okay, you're right. I'm not, but we are going to have fun tonight!!!"

"Yeah, which we should get going as soon as Charlie and Tanner get here" I said, eyeing the clock on the wall. "Which should be within the next half hour"

"Hey broskis" Ryder greeted the boys as he came in from the bedroom.

"Meow!" April yowled and excitedly hopped off her cat stand and came over to sniff the boys.

"When did you get a cat?!" Jace exclaimed, picking her up.

"Oh, Ry got her for me for Christmas"

"What's her name?" He asked, scratching her chin. She purrs loudly in between conversations.

"April" I smiled. "Sorry, I forgot to mention that when telling you I moved in"

"It's okay. I forgive you" he said, rubbing his face against April's face.

"How are you guys doing?"I directed the question to the trio heading toward the futons.

"Good" "Tired" "Fine" came from them.

"How's the nursing Sebastian?"

"I love it, just hate that I get put on odd hours all the time but that's what happens when you're first starting out" he shrugged.

"Seniority is stupid" Jace mumbled

"No, it's not. It wouldn't be fair if a rookie got better hours than someone who has been there for 15 years" Sebastian told him as he plopped on the futon with Jace next to him. Jace just frowned in response. I squeezed in on the other side of Jace.

"Just how things are JEM" I poked his side. He squeaked and April went running away from the noise.

"Do you guys need anything to drink?" Ry asked from the fridge in the kitchen.

"Waters?" Damon asked all of us and we nodded then repeated "Waters" to Ry.

The buzzer to the apartment buzzed again.

"I got it" I quickly said as Ry carried all the water into the living room. I picked one off the top of the mountain and kissed his cheek "Thanks babe" before going over and pressing the intercom.

"Yes?"

"Hey Matt, it's Charlie and Tanner" Charlie said through the speaker box.

"Come on up" I said then buzzed them in.

A knock to the door came and I opened the door to the twins.

"Hey" I smiled and they both gave me a hug. "How was the flight?"

"Good, almost thought we lost our luggage" Tanner replied while we walked over to the group in the living room.

"Oh no, that's why I always get worried about plane rides. Always stories of people losing their luggage or damages" I said as I shook my head.

Everyone gave their round of hugs to the twins before settling down again. I'm slightly amazed at how many people can fit in this tiny apartment.

"Are Landon and Peyton coming?" I asked Ry and he shook his head.

"Pey isn't feeling well so they stayed home" He replied.

"Awww hope he feels better. I'll shoot him a text!" Jace said while pulling out his phone.

"Are you two needing to stay with us or do you have other plans?" I asked Tanner and Charlie.

"Oh, don't worry. We booked a hotel as soon as we knew we were coming here for New Years" Tanner said with a wave of the hand. 

"If we want a good standing room, we should head over to Times Square" Ryder said as he glanced at the clock.

"Shots before we leave?" Charlie asked.

"Yes!" Jace excitedly said and Damon raised his eyebrow at him, making Jace blush.

"Mine is Jim Beam and Tanner's is Crown" Charlie said as he and Tanner pulled out flasks and took a swig of them before passing them around. I chose Crown as well as Dakota and Jace. The rest took a swig from Tanner's.

"Okay, let's goooo" I clapped and we grabbed our coats before shuffling out of the apartment.

First we went to a restaurant near where we would be standing so we got to eat and use the bathroom because once you get to your section, you can't leave.

Then we walked down the busy streets to gather in Times Square for the annual ball drop. And when I say busy. I mean BUSY.

"Almost need a rope to make sure we stay together" Dakota loudly joked as we filed through the people walking all around us.

"Oooh that reminds me, you guys should come to Wisconsin to go down the apple River in the summer" Charlie mentioned.

"Yes! It's the best!" Tanner agreed.

"Here!" Ryder announced as we corralled into a crowd of people that the metal gates surround.

"Okay, welp we have a few hours of standing here before the ball drops" Damon said as we huddled closely together. It is pretty chilly out.

"Woo, down to the last thirty minutes guys!" Charlie cheered. There was music playing around us as we stood amongst the sea of people.

The last few hours we got to chat with the people surrounding us. There was an older couple from Oregon here that were celebrating their twentieth year anniversary that is January 1st. What a way to celebrate. They were such a sweet couple.

The others around us were a group of single girls hoping to get a random kiss from a stranger. Their eyes twinkled at the lot of us. Unfortunately for them, we had to tell them we were taken by each other. Well not like grouply but you know what I mean. And lastly a mixture of LGBT couples, straight couples and young couples were the rest surrounding us.

"Oh guys!" I suddenly say "Jace and I thought we could add a destination for our summer explorations"

"Where?" The lot of them said in unison.

"Universal Studios, we thought of it when we went to the Wizarding World"

"Oh! I always wanted to go there" Tanner and Charlie said together. "Good idea guys, how was it?" Tanner continued.

"Oh, we loved it" Jace beamed. "Of course there is so much else to see than the Wizarding World if you're not into that" he shrugged.

"We've only watched the movies, never read the books" Charlie replied.

"That's a lot of people" I waved my hand "Well now we have another destination up for picking"

"I wanted to add going to Norway to see the Northern lights" Sebastian chimed in.

"Oooh that'd be so beautiful" Ryder said with a dreamy look on his face "It'd be very romantic too" he finished, turning his head and winking at me. I grabbed his waist and pulled his back into my chest, resting my chin on his shoulder and arms wrapped around his middle.

"Only a minute left!" Jace bounced in his place as we looked up at the glowing ball.

"This has been the most surprising year and best year for me" I whispered into Ryder's ear,which I could feel was cold against the tip of my nose "And not only am I going to receive two bundles of joy in a couple months.....I met the love of my life. I love you Ry" as I finished, he turned in my arms to face me.

"It was the best year of my life. And we will have many more best years to come" he smiled up at me "I love you too, Matthew" Our lips connected as the crowd counted down.

"10....9....8....7....6....5....4....3....2....1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!" The crowd roared as our lips stayed glued together in a loving kiss.

We eventually pulled away to see Charlie and Tanner lip locking as well as the four brothers switching off between each other. There was confetti flying everywhere in the sky, landing on our hair and shoulders. I rushed ourselves off but it was just replaced with new confetti that slowly descended down from the sky.

"You guys didn't even watch the ball descend" Jace stated after the brothers pulled away from each other.

"I was occupied with something better" Ry smoothly said as he looked at me with a smirk.

"Gahhhh! You're so f*****g cute" I exclaimed and pecked his lips again as he giggled.

"Not as cute as you" he mumbled against my lips.

"Well happy new years guys!" I said to our friends once I turned back to them. We exchanged hugs and a couple kisses on the cheeks and then the group of girls that were near us came over and wished us a happy new year as well. They blushed as we gave them kisses on the cheeks since they didn't find random guys to be able to kiss since I saw a few of them lip lock each other in celebration.

"I liked that...Ending the year and starting the new year with your lips on mine" Ryder said as I took his hand in mine. Everyone started to slowly exit the sections where they were standing.

"Me too....We should do that every year" I squeezed his hand, bringing it up to my lips and kissing the back of his hand.

"Sounds like a plan, Mon amour" he said and leaned his head on my shoulder.

"Mein Herz" I softly said and kissed the top of his head.
