You Changed

The pressure didn’t let up. Not even for a second. But I wasn’t struggling anymore. I moved— Not reacting. Not guessing. Knowing. The next strike came— I stepped aside before it fully formed. The space collapsed— But I was already gone. The warmth inside me flowed with every movement, sharp and controlled, responding instantly to every shift in intent. Another attack— I redirected it. Another— I slipped past it. Another— I countered. Clean. Precise. Mine. The figure stepped back slightly, its gaze sharper now. Focused. Serious. “You’ve stabilized,” it said. I didn’t respond. Because I didn’t need to. I could feel it. The difference. The control. The silence in my mind where chaos used to be. And then— A crack. Sharp. Loud. My head snapped toward the divide. The distorted space between me and Kael— Shattered. Like glass under pressure. My chest tightened. “Kael—” He stepped through. Not rushed. Not panicked. Controlled. But his gaze— Locked onto me. Studying. Measuring. Something unreadable behind it. “You broke it,” I said. He didn’t answer immediately. His eyes didn’t leave me. “…You changed,” he said. The words landed quietly. But they carried weight. I exhaled slowly. “I had to.” A pause. Then— “I can see that.” Something in his tone shifted. Not doubt. Not fear. Something else. Something deeper. The figure moved again— But this time— We were both ready. No hesitation. No confusion. Kael stepped forward— I moved with him. And this time— It was different. Not forced. Not learned in the moment. Natural. The space collapsed— But we anticipated it. Adjusted. Countered. Together. The figure reacted— But slower now. Because now— We weren’t just two fighters. We were one rhythm again. Stronger than before. The combined force of our attack hit harder, pushing it back further than any strike before. A real reaction. A real shift. Kael stepped beside me, his voice low. “You held your own.” I didn’t look at him. “I told you I would.” A faint pause. Then— “…I know.” The figure straightened slightly, its gaze moving between us again. “You’ve both evolved.” Kael’s expression hardened. “So have you.” A faint smile. “Good.” The air tightened again. Because this wasn’t over. Not even close. But now— Everything had changed. We weren’t just surviving anymore. We were matching it. And the next time it tried to break us— It wouldn’t be as easy. Because now— We knew exactly what we were capable of. And we weren’t holding back anymore. 😈🔥
