Cast Out Like Nothing

The silence didn’t last long. It never does when people smell weakness. Whispers started first—low, sharp, cutting through the air like blades. “She’s being rejected…” “In front of everyone?” “How embarrassing…” Each word sank into my skin, heavier than the last. I stood frozen where I was, my legs refusing to move, my heart still trying to process what had just happened. This couldn’t be real. It couldn’t. “Leave.” Kael’s voice snapped through the noise. Cold. Final. My breath hitched. “You’re no longer part of this pack,” he added, not even bothering to look at me again. Something inside me cracked. Not loudly. Not visibly. But deeply enough that I knew… Nothing would ever be the same again. “I… I have nowhere to go,” I said, my voice barely holding together. For a moment—just a moment—I thought he might hesitate. Might soften. Might remember that I was once something to him. But he didn’t. “That’s not my concern,” he replied. The words felt like another blow. Beside him, Alina smiled. Satisfied. Victorious. Like she had just won something she had always wanted. “You heard the Alpha,” she said, her tone sweet but laced with cruelty. “You should leave before things get worse.” My hands clenched at my sides. I wanted to scream. To fight. To demand answers. But what was the point? Everything had already been decided. The crowd began to part, creating a path—not out of kindness, but to make my exit more visible. More humiliating. Step by step, I forced myself forward. Every movement felt heavy. Every breath painful. But I didn’t stop. I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of seeing me fall. Not here. Not now. As I crossed the edge of the pack grounds, the noise behind me slowly faded. Replaced by silence. Cold. Empty. Alone. I stumbled slightly, gripping onto a nearby tree to steady myself as a sharp pain shot through my body. Something felt… wrong. Different. My hand instinctively moved to my stomach, a strange warmth spreading beneath my palm. My breath caught. “What… is this?” The feeling pulsed faintly. Alive. And for the first time since everything fell apart— Fear crept in. Because deep down… I knew this wasn’t normal. And whatever it was— It was only just beginning. 😈🔥
