The Man Who Found Me

451 Words
Pain. That was the first thing I felt. A dull, heavy ache spreading through my body as consciousness slowly returned. My head throbbed, my limbs felt weak, and for a moment, I didn’t even remember where I was. Then it hit me. The rejection. The forest. The wolves. My eyes snapped open. I sat up too quickly, a sharp pain shooting through my side as I gasped. “Easy.” The voice was deep. Unfamiliar. My heart jumped as I turned toward it. He was standing a few steps away, leaning casually against the wall like he had all the time in the world. Tall. Broad. Dangerous. Even without trying. “Who are you?” I asked, my voice hoarse. He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he pushed himself off the wall and walked toward me slowly. Every step measured. Controlled. “You were about to die,” he said. “That doesn’t answer my question.” A faint smirk touched his lips. “I saved you,” he replied. “I didn’t ask for that.” His eyes darkened slightly. “Trust me,” he said. “You needed it.” Silence stretched between us. Tense. Uncertain. I quickly looked around, realizing I wasn’t in the forest anymore. The room was unfamiliar—simple, but not poor. Clean. Controlled. Safe. Or at least… it looked that way. “Where am I?” I asked. “Somewhere your Alpha won’t find you easily.” My chest tightened. “I didn’t ask about him.” “But he’s part of the problem,” he replied calmly. That irritated me. “I can handle my own problems.” His gaze lingered on me for a moment before dropping—briefly—to my stomach. The movement was small. But I noticed. “You’re not just dealing with your own problems anymore,” he said. My breath caught. “What does that mean?” He didn’t answer directly. Instead, he took another step closer, his presence suddenly more intense. “Tell me,” he said, his voice lower now, “have you felt it yet?” My heart skipped. “Felt what?” “That power inside you.” The room felt colder. Quieter. My hand moved instinctively to my stomach. And just like before— I felt it. That strange warmth. Alive. Unfamiliar. Real. My eyes snapped back to his. “How do you know about that?” I asked. This time— He didn’t smile. “Because,” he said quietly, “You’re not the only one who’s been looking for it.” A chill ran down my spine. Because something told me— I hadn’t been saved. I had been found. 😈🔥
