ODESSA POINT OF VIEW “You must feel good to have two royals dueling over a peasant like you today,” Princess Vesper said as she joined me by the river inside the castle walls, where I often stood to listen to the soothing sounds of the water whenever I was lost in thought. I glanced at Princess Vesper, who stood next to me watching the river, before looking away, not bothering to give her any of my attention. “Aren't you going to attend and watch the chaos you have caused?” she pressed. I turned towards her and signed, asking, “Why do you hate me so much? What kind of person pretends to be friends with someone only to betray them? You are rotten and vile.” She rolled her eyes and laughed coldly. “Rotten and vile? How fitting coming from someone like you. You think you’re special just because two brothers are fighting over you? You’re nothing but a pathetic, mute servant who should know her place.” Her words hurt, but she continued . “How dare you even refer to me as rotten? May I remind you that you are speaking to your princess? I will make you regret your stupidity later, but first, we have more important things to attend to.” She signaled to the guards, who immediately walked toward me and grabbed me roughly. I tried to resist, but they were too strong and forcefully dragged me to another part of the castle where the duel was being held. As they pulled me away, Vesper leaned in closer and hissed, “Enjoy the show, peasant. After today, you will be nothing but a forgotten footnote in our history.” Every council member and elder was gathered at the spot, and this only increased my fear. Everyone turned their stare towards me before focusing on the princes, who stood at the center of the battle arena, ready to start their duel. They stood opposite each other, both shirtless and holding swords, as the duel was ordered to begin. Without hesitating, Prince Kael charged towards his elder brother, who remained calm. He raised his sword high, prepared to strike, but kaiden quickly dodged the attack, causing him to stumble forward, his sword digging into the dirt. Prince Kael grew agitated as he removed his sword from the ground and lunged at his brother again. Kaiden swiftly avoided the attack, but Kael kept swinging his sword furiously. It was clear who the better fighter was; Kaiden was in a different league. The younger brother was also skilled, but he didn't stand a chance against his elder brother. I glanced around, and everyone seemed as panicked as I was, concern written all over their faces. If I had the power to stop this, I would have done so immediately, but the situation was beyond my control. Still, my concern remained. I wanted this to end as soon as it began. I hated the attention, I hated everything about this moment. “You fight recklessly, brother,” Kaiden said, effortlessly avoiding his brother's attacks. He didn't even bother to fight back; he simply dodged each strike like it was nothing more than a pesky fly. “Why don't you shut up and fight me, brother?” Kael spat, continuing to swing his sword wildly. "If you insist," Prince Kaiden replied nonchalantly. He caught Kael's sword in the air and snapped it in half as if it were a mere twig before pushing him backwards. My mouth fell open in surprise, and everyone around us gasped. Kael stared at the broken sword in his hand, stunned, before throwing it aside. What happened next shocked me. Kael decided to use part of his wolf abilities, suddenly growing fangs and claws while still maintaining his human form. He growled and lunged at his brother, who remained still and unbothered. As Kael pounced, Kaiden effortlessly caught him by the throat with one hand. He struggled and tried to break free, choking under Kaiden's grip on his throat, but Kaiden was too strong. With a casual flick of his wrist, Kaiden threw Kael across the room making him land harshly on the floor while everyone gasped in surprise. Kaiden walked calmly towards his brother. "Give up, brother. I don't want to hurt you," he said. But Kael ignored him, struggling to stand again. Kaiden landed a punch that sent him to the ground. "Give up," He repeated, but Kael refused. He tried to rise once more, and Kaiden delivered another blow that knocked him down again. Slowly, Kaiden knelt, grasped Kael by the hair to steady his head, and began raining punches on his face. Blood streamed down Kael's battered face, making him look like he was about to die any moment. I couldn't bear to watch, covering my mouth to stifle my sobs. Despite his betrayal and hurtful words, I couldn't bear to see Kael in so much pain. "Enough!" a voice suddenly interrupted. Kaiden fist was frozen in mid-air as everyone turned to their father, who spoke , "Guards, seize that girl." The guards moved towards me, seizing my arms as everyone was suddenly confused . I struggled against their grip, desperate to break free. "If that wretched girl is the reason you are fighting to the death," their father continued, "then neither of you shall have her." I looked around anxiously, unsure of what would happen next and fearing for my fate. Kaiden released his brother's head, which slumped to the ground unconscious. He stood up, confused, and turned to his father. "What are you talking about, Father?" Suddenly, the alpha of my pack suddenly spoke with authority saying. "I hereby banish the omega. She shall never set foot within this pack's territory again," he declared, shocking me to the core. "And I also forbid you from being anywhere near my pack or my son. The day you are caught within miles of either of them will be your last," the prince's father added supporting his friend's decision “. She is my mate, and I will claim her," Kaiden protested. "You have a choice, Kaiden. You can either claim her as your mate or claim the throne. Choose whichever one you value more," Their father stated, causing a gasp among those present. I glanced at Kaiden, who looked caught between his bond to me and his responsibilities to his pack and family, while the kings remained on their decision. Banishment. Where will I go? What will become of me? Why did I ever fall in love? Will I end up as just another ordinary rogue? Surviving out there seemed an impossible task. Kaiden remained silent, his eyes on his father. My eyes traveled to his unconscious brother lying on the ground before traveling back to him. He looked at me, and my heart started beating very fast out of fear. We shared a moment of eye contact before he turned back to his father and uttered, "the crown." In that instant, everything came crashing down around me, shattering my already broken world into even smaller pieces. "Wise decision, Prince," Queen Zora said, nodding approvingly. She turned to the guards and commanded, "Take her away." With that, they seized me, dragging me off while Kaiden stood by, silently watching. What will become of me now?
