29 Terminus, 24 December 1871 Claire Radcliffe entered with her arms full of clothing. “This is starting to feel familiar,” she said, and Fiona smiled back at her in mutual relief that no one else had been hurt. Fiona sat again, and Lieutenant Crow slipped out. Claire helped her to dress. With each movement, Fiona felt stronger, and she felt the pressure of questions building in her middle.
