Arissa led them through yet another long tunnel with glowing flesh on the walls. Melissa was sandwiched between two Overseers, one directly in front of her, one behind, and the latter insisted on nudging her if she started lagging. A poke to the small of her back made her stumble. Freezing in place, she glanced back over her shoulder. “I’m going. There’s no need to get rough.” She pressed on before the alien could get any ideas. She wasn’t sure where they were taking her, but wherever it was, she knew she wouldn’t like it. They had moved Arin to the back of the line, separating him from Melissa. No doubt that was to make them both more pliable. She was expecting an interrogation; that was the only thing that made sense. She couldn’t even begin to guess what the Overseers hoped to learn
