The Female Apha

Chapter 6

    My dad leads me to the front door that opens up to the courtyard. As the doors open I hear someone say “I present you Alpha James and Caroline of the Silver Moon Pack.” Everyone turned towards us. I felt everyone’s eyes on me and it made me nervous. My dad leads me through the door out into the courtyard. We are greeted by Beta Aaron, Lynn, Parker, Patrick, and Peyton.

    “Alpha” Aaron nods “Caroline you look beautiful please have a wonderful time tonight me and your dad will stay close but not too close just in case someone tries something.”

    “Thank you Aaron please go enjoy some time with Lynn.”

    “If you insist, I won’t be far. Please be careful.” Aaron walks off with Lynn’s hand in his. They deserve to have a night off they work so hard every day and Lynn did such an amazing job with the party. There were 50 or more tables all with a white table cloth and a light pink tulle table run that hung over both ends of the table. The centerpieces were pink and white cherry blossom flowers most in vases with a few lying in the middle of the table.

    “Hey Care, you beautiful tonight. N-not that you don’t always look beautiful.” Parker says stuttering. He seemed nervous but I didn’t know why, he had nothing to be nervous about.

    “Hey Parker, I want you to look for your mate as well tonight. A lot of the guest brought their unmated sisters.”

    “Oh okay I will look.”

    “Hey sweetheart I would like to introduce you to some of our guest.” My dad says. I grab his arm and we start walking through the party meeting the guest.

     “Yes, how have you been Alpha Logan?”  I say looking at Alpha Logan

    “Just fine, thank you for asking. You look wonderful in that dress.” Alpha Logan states.

    “Why thank you Sir. How have you been Ethan? It’s been awhile since we last seen each other.” I say now facing Ethan. Ethan was not my mate and he could seem less interested in me.

    “I am fine” He says to me then turns to his dad. “I am going to find Patrick and Peyton they are more fun.” Ethan just walks away disappearing in the crowd.

    “I am so sorry for my sons rudeness please forgive him.” Alpha Logan says.

    “It is okay Alpha Logan, Ethan isn’t my mate so I can understand him not wanting to spend his time talking to me.”

    “Thank you for understanding Caroline. I hope you find your mate you are going to make a great Alpha to your pack.” Alpha Logan then left going to talk to some of the other guest.

    “I am glad he wasn’t your mate. He is such a child and couldn’t handle the reasonability on being a Alpha.” My dad said as we continue meeting more of the guest.

“Our mate is here Caroline! I can smell him!”

“I know so can I. I just can’t tell who it is yet.”

“Well keep looking he is here somewhere.”

     Skye was right my mate is at the party I can smell him. He smells wonderful, like coconut and vanilla. I wonder if he can smell me and what I smell like to him. Each wolf smells different to their mate compared to everyone else; it is one way we can tell who our mate is.  While my dad was talking to the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, I continued looking for my mate. It was so hard to keep looking for him, every time I would get close to him someone would stop me to talk. None of them were my mate and I was starting to get annoyed.

    Once again I got close to finding my mate but I heard Lynn’s voice. “Attention everyone if you could please find your seats dinner will begin. For the main course you have a choice between Lobster Pasta and Grilled Chicken with a Cherry Wine Sauce and for dessert we will be having Mini Rum Cakes. Please enjoy.” Everyone begins to sit down to eat.

    “We invited you all here today to celebrate my daughter Caroline’s 18th birthday. So if everyone can raise their glasses I would like to make a toast to my beautiful, strong, independent daughter Caroline.” My dad says as raising his glass in the air.

    “To Caroline!” Everyone said in unison taking a drink, and then everyone began to eat.

     After we were all don’t eating we started to mingle again the party would be over soon and I still haven’t found my mate I know he is here but where? I continue talking to everyone I meet hoping they would be my mate but they weren’t. When suddenly I see Mr. Green Eyes, I still never learned his name. I wonder who he is and if he is from my pack because other than Parker, his brothers and Harper no males from my pack were invited. But if he isn’t from my pack why was he at my school? My pack is so large and has so many kids we don’t share with neighboring packs just the humans who live inside our pack boarders.

“Caroline he is our mate!”

“How do you know Skye I can’t tell if the smell is coming from him or the wolves around him.”

“Its him trust me!”

“Okay Skye I am trusting you wish me luck.”

“Good luck.”  I then close the mind link with Skye.

    I walk in the direction of Mr. Green Eyes who Skye thinks to be our mate. I am so nervous I am about to meet our mate. Well I guess I have met him before but I don’t know his name all I know is has the most gorgeous eyes. He is standing with Alpha Jack and his son Christopher of the Blood Moon Pack. Ever since Jack has been in charge of Blood Moon we don’t have issues with them. Every so many years he comes to meet with my dad to discuss peace treaties. Out of all the packs in America they are the closest allies we have. After what happened 12 years ago Alpha Jack wanted to try to make everything right with my dad being he did nothing to stop the late Alpha Daniel from torturing me. I couldn’t blame him he was just doing what his Alpha told him to do so there are no hard feelings between us.

    “Hello Alpha Jack, Christopher. Are you enjoying yourselves?”

    “Hello Caroline nice to see you again. Thank you for inviting us to your party; we are having a wonderful time. My son has even found his mate.” Alpha Jack said with a huge smile on his face.

    “That is so wonderful! Do mind if I ask who she is Chris?”

    “Not at all Caroline, her name is Emma. She is the daughter of Alpha Andrew of the Crescent Moon Pack.” Chris tells me.

    “I haven’t got the chance to meet her yet but I hear she is beautiful.”

    “Very much so! I must get back to her she went to spend time with her father and brother since she will be coming back to my pack with me tonight.” Chris says.

    “Well once you get settled in you must come and visit I would love to meet her.”

    “We sure will thank you again for inviting us.” Chris then leaves to find his mate.

    “Caroline I don’t think you have got to meet my Beta yet have you? This is Kol Knight my Beta. Kol this is Alpha James daughter Caroline and our lovely host of the evening.” Jack says introducing us. My heart sank into my stomach, my mate is Kol Knight the son of the man who had me kidnapped and tortured. Why is the Moon Goddess doing this to me, haven’t I been through enough?

    “Hello Caroline it’s nice to finally meet you.” Kol said while grabbing my hand and kissing it. It brought sparks all through my body. Making Skye howl in joy inside my head. First the Moon Goddess betrays me now my own wolf can life get any worse?

    “It’s nice to meet you too.” I say even though we have met before. “Alpha Jack do mind giving us a moment?”

    “Not at all Caroline. Thank you for inviting me enjoy the rest of your night and if you have any problems with this one let me know.” Alpha Jack says jokingly as he walks away.

    Now I am all alone with Kol I am nervous but not nervous because he is my mate nervous because im scared he holds a grudge on me for my dad killing his dad. “So it seems that you are my mate.” I say shyly

    “It seems I am.”

    “Why have you been hanging out in my pack the past couple weeks?”

    “Well three years I turned 18 so after two years of not being able to find my mate Alpha Jack let me leave the pack to search for my mate. Christopher took over my duties as Beta while I was gone. I arrived here three weeks ago with your fathers’ permission to look for my mate on his lands. That’s when I met you.”

    “Wait your telling me my dad let you in the pack boarders and didn’t tell me?”

    “I asked him not to. I told him we had history and I didn’t want you to feel uncomfortable with me being here. But the day I saw you at your school I knew you were my mate and I couldn’t leave.”

    “Why didn’t you tell me when I ran into you?”

    “You weren’t 18 yet I wanted you to find out for yourself and not just take my word.”

    “Well aren’t you going to reject me now?”

    “Why in the Goddess would I do that?”

    “Because I am a weak girl, who got captured and tortured for a year. I have all these scars on my body. I am the reason your father is dead and why you aren’t Alpha! Why would you want to be with me?” I start crying.

    “None of those things matter to me Caroline. You were 6 when my father took you, what was you    supposed to do? Those scars are proof that you survived and honestly you are the strongest female wolf I have ever seen. My father got himself killed he is the one who kidnapped you. Even if he was still alive I wouldn’t be Alpha.”

    “How would you not be Alpha you would have taken over when you were 18? Also how do you know how strong I am?”

    “I have an older brother David. He is two years older than me but when my father was killed he ran off and I haven’t seen him since. Also I watched you train; I think you could give me for a run of my money.”

    “See that’s another reason you shouldn’t want to be with me I am the reason your family is broken.”

    “It is not your fault Caroline. My family was broken way before you showed up. Please listen to me; I want to be with you. Not because you are strong or future alpha of this pack. I want to be with you because you are beautiful, kind, smart, and make me feel like no one else ever has. I knew when I first saw you 12 years ago I wanted you. Will you please give me a chance?” My heart stopped when I hear the words coming out of my mouth. Does he really want me? Does he really want to make this work? What if it backfires? What if he is just using me to become Alpha? I feel a hand on my shoulder I turn around and see Parker.

    “Caroline where have you been looking everywhere for you.”

    “Sorry I was just talking to Beta Kol of the Blood Moon Pack.”

    Parker steps in front of me, putting himself between me and Kol. “What could you possibly want to say to Caroline Beta?” Parker questions Kol with a hit of anger in his tone.

    Kol growls at Parker. Oh Goddess this isn’t good! “Parker it is fine I approached him.”

    “Well my mom is looking for you she sent me to find you.” Parker said never taking his eyes of Kol.

    “Okay please go stand over there I will be right over.” Parker doesn’t agree but does as I say. “Kol I am sorry about Parker he has been my best friend since we were born.”

    “It’s okay, so are you willing to give us a chance?”

    “Care come on my mom is waiting!” Parker yells try to hurry me.

    “Please excuse me Kol. It must be important if Lynn sent Parker for me. I will find you after I deal with this okay? We can finish our conversation then.” Kol nods and kissing my hand.

     I walk over to as he leads me to his mom with his arm wrapped around my waist. He only did that to make Kol jealous and it was working I heard Kol growl. After weaving through all the guest we make it to Lynn. “Hello there beautiful where have you been all night?” Lynn says pulling me away from Parker so he couldn’t hear us talk. “Did you find you mate?”

    “Yes, I did.”

    “Oh goddess yes! Who is it?”

    “Beta Kol of the Blood Moon Pack. The late Alpha Daniel’s son.” Lynn was speechless she had no idea what to say. Neither did I really. “He wants me to at least try to make it work before rejecting him. I never thought I would reject my mate but how could the Moon Goddess mate me with Kol after everything that happened. I know it’s not his fault but it’s my fault his family is broken. When dad killed his dad his older brother ran off leaving him alone. Why would he want me?”

    “Caroline don’t you dare talk like that! It is not your fault Daniel kidnapped you he did all that to himself and For Kol’s brother he seems better off without him I heard he was just like his father. Now I can’t make you give that boy a chance but I think it would be wrong of you if you didn’t.”

    “You are right Lynn thank you. I don’t know what I would do without you.”

    “You’re welcome dear. Now the reason I needed you was not to gossip the party is about over I would like you to thank everyone for coming.”

    “Okay can I do that now? I need to go find Kol and talk to him.”

    “Yes dear.”

    I walk over to the front door and face all my guest.  “May I have your attention please?” Everyone stops what they are doing and turns towards me giving me their attention. “I would first like to thank you all for coming to celebrate my 18th birthday. I hope everyone has had a good time. With the night coming to an end I would like to invite everyone to stay here in our pack house or the hotel 10 minutes down the road. If you choose to stay in the hotel your room will be free just let them know you are a guest of James and Caroline King. Tomorrow I am holding a meeting at 9 am with the Alphas to discuss the matter of my mate. After the meeting everyone is welcome to stay as long as needed please feel free to look for your mates while here in the Silver Moon Pack only wish you respect our laws. Once again thank you for coming, enjoy the rest of your night and travel safe.”

    I now go look for Kol but get stopped by Parker in the process. “Hey Care where are you going? I haven’t seen you all night. I was hoping we could go watch a movie before we go to bed.”

    “I am sorry Parker I have been super busy trying to find my mate tonight.”

    “No big deal did you find him?”

    “Yes I think so that’s who I am trying to find right now.”

    “Well who is it maybe I can help you look?”

    “No that’s okay Parker I can find him. Go pick out a movie? I’ll meet you in the living room to watch it.”

    “Yeah sure see you soon.” Parker leaves to go pick out a movie while I continue looking for Kol.

    I feel someone standing behind me looking at me. It was Kol, the smell of coconut and vanilla penetrated  my nose. I turn around to see Kol smiling at me. His smile made my heart melt and his green eyes, I could get lost in them for hours. He walks up to me and says “So have you made your decision yet?”

    “Yes, I want to try to make this work.”

    “Really you aren’t just saying that to spare me right?”

    “No really I want to make this work. Tomorrow I will tell all the other Alphas you are my mate and will help me run the Silver Moon Pack if that is what you would still like to do.”

    “Of course I want that. Is there anything I can help you with?”

    “No I am fine, but for now I would like you to stay in the room next to mine. I am on the 3rd floor you room will be to the left and the first door to the right. I promised Parker I would watch a movie with him and then I will be up so we can talk. Can you meet me in my room at Midnight?”

    “Yes of course.”Kol kissed the top of my head then heads into the pack house up to his room.

    A few minutes later I walk into the pack house and go to the living room. Parker was sitting on the couch waiting for me so he could hit play. It looked like we are watching Iron Man 3 for like the 100th time. It is Parkers favorite movie so I didn’t want to say anything knowing we might not get to have movie nights here soon. Parker is going to be Beta and I am going to be Alpha soon, we aren’t going to have time to be kids anymore. Plus I don’t know how our mates are going to feel about us spending so much time together.

    “Hey Care, did you find your mate?”

    “Yes I did, so after the movie there are some things I need to talk to him about so only one movie tonight.”

    “Okay I understand.” Parker hit play. Half way through the movie Parker thought it would be a good idea to start asking questions. “So why were you talking to Kol Knight?”

    “No reason just being friendly.”

    “Why his dad is the reason you got kidnapped and tortured for a year.”

    “Okay? So does that mean I can’t be friendly? He was 9 he had no control over his dad.”

    “Why would you want to be friendly? He is just like his dad. He is probably only here to get back at our pack for killing his dad.”

    “Did you ever think he was just here to find his mate?”

    “Honestly Care no I didn’t. He doesn’t deserve a mate.”

    “How can you say that?! He wasn’t the one who beat me and cut me with silver, that was his dad and now his dad is dead and his brother left him. He is all alone, Alpha Jack kept him and raised him like his own despite who his dad is. Kol had nothing to do with it!”

    “Why are you defending this guy?”

    “Because he was there 12 years ago. He got beat for trying to help me. He came down every day for 2 weeks to bring me extra water and try and comfort me. When he got caught his dad beat him and made me watch. I never saw him again after that until tonight. I am the reason his dad is dead, why his brother left and why he got beat. So yes he deserves a mate and he deserves my kindness.”

    “Caroline I didn’t know.”

    “Of course you didn’t know! I didn’t tell you I didn’t want to talk about it but you left me no choice!”

    “I am sorry Care.”

    “Its whatever, I am going to my room we can talk about this after the meeting tomorrow I expect you to be there.” I didn’t give him a chance to speak I just left and headed for my room. Why was he acting like this? He hasn’t really met Kol, he knows nothing about him. How is he going to act when he finds out Kol is my mate?

    It was 11 pm in an hour Kol would be here to talk and I was still in my dress. I had totally forgotten to change before trying to watch with Parker. I hurry into the bathroom to take a shower. I washed my hair and made sure to get all the makeup off my face. I then get out of the shower and wrap a towel around my body and one around my hair. I walk out of the bathroom to see Kol sitting on my bed. “Oh my Goddess knock much?” I run to my closet to hide myself from him.

    “I did knock you didn’t answer so I figured you were still downstairs with lover boy.”

    “One me and Parker are just friends so he is not lover boy and two I said midnight.”

    “Caroline its 12:30 I waited almost 30 minutes before coming in. I didn’t hear the shower or I would have waited in my room.”

    “Oh my bad I didn’t realize I was in the shower for that long. Let me get dressed then I will be out.” I put on a pair of purple fuzzy pajama pants and a gray tee shirt. I take the towel off my head and throw both towels into the laundry hamper. I walk out of the closet seeing Kol sitting in the same spot; it looks like he hasn’t moved a muscle. He was freshly showed I could smell the body wash he used but the smell of coconut and vanilla overpowered it.

    “So, what did you want to talk about Caroline?”

    “Well first off you don’t have to call me Caroline everyone calls me Care for the most part. Also I just wanted to talk to you about being mates, kind of lay out some ground rules until we get comfortable.”

    “Okay Care, what were you thinking?”

    “Well one I’m not ready to mate completely. At least not until we get to know each other better. I also like to wait on marking each other until after I become Alpha.”

    “Okay can I ask why?”

    “The other Alphas said I had to find my mate to become Alpha but they never said anything about me having to be mated. I want to become Alpha before we mark each other so the pack and other Alphas won’t forget I am Alpha.”

    “Ahh so you found a loophole.”

    “Yes I did, that leads me to another thing I dint want to just be a Luna I want to be Alpha an equal. I will still do all the Luna jobs with the help of Lynn until my Beta… I mean our Beta finds his mate. I want to be part of all Alpha meeting and decisions we make for the pack. I want left out of nothing. Are you okay with that?”

    “If we are being honest, I never wanted to be Alpha.”

    “Wait are you serious?”

    “Yes, I remember how my dad ruled our pack and I hated it. Ever since he brought you to our pack I never wanted to be Alpha, I never wanted to be like him. So you wanting to share the Alpha role is perfect. You will be an amazing Alpha and I want to be your side to help you not take over.”

    “If you feel this way why did you tell the other Alphas you would become Alpha if I couldn’t find my mate in time?”

    “They asked me after I had met you. I knew I was your mate and I wasn’t going to let anyone take Alphaship away from you even if that meant being in a loveless relationship. I know you don’t trust or love me right now but I am hoping you will give me a chance and believe I am not here just because of your title.”

    “I believe you Kol. I don’t think you are here to hurt me in anyway. I was told to always follow my wolf’s instincts and right now she is telling me to give you a fair chance.”

    “Well I am like her already.” Kol laugh a little. “What is her name?”

    “Her name is Skye and she is dying to meet your wolf.”

    “What a beautiful name. My wolf’s name is Shadow. Do you have any more rules?”

    “I don’t think so do you have any?”

    “Just one, please don’t ever lie to me. No matter how much it might hurt me don’t lie to me. I have been lied to enough to last a life time.”

    “Okay I think I can manage that. So what now?”

    “Well it 1 in the morning and we have a meeting to go to at 9am so I think we should go to bed.” Kol was right no matter how much I hated to admit it I didn’t want him to go but we had to get up early for that stupid meeting I planned.

    “Why did I make the meeting so early? I’m not even tired.” I say as a yawn comes of my mouth

    “It sure seems that way.” Kol gets off the bed and picks me up. He then moves the blankets laying me down and coving me up. “Get some sleep I will see you at the meeting.” He gently kisses my forehead walks to the door turns the lights out and leaves. Kol wasn’t what I was expecting at all. I was expecting this cold hearted wolf who wanted nothing to do with me just wanted to use me to become Alpha of my pack. I slowly fall asleep thinking of Kol.
