Aihi paced.
She, the Exalted Dragon Princess, Acting Shōgun, her wits worn so thin she couldn't stand still.
Lacotl's doing, again, getting into her head in the moments she least expected him. The kan'thir hadn't caused more trouble over the last month, not since she gave formal assent to playing his game—to quit running away and face him.
Now the next stage of his plan unfolded, and Aihi would stop him.
Kira lay on her side, hands and feet bound in front of her. "If you want me to talk, untie me first."
"After the stunt you pulled on us in the Tsukiko Academy library? No." Taniya wiped grime from her face. "Give us something to work with, and I will vouch for you. As your friend."
"You'd swear by someone who has sent two dozen spirits to the depths of the sea?" Aihi said.
