The clock on my wall read midnight when Jax knocked on my door. I opened it while wearing black clothes, my heart already racing. “Ready?” he asked in a low voice. I nodded. “Just us? No backup?” “Just us.” He handed me a helmet. “You’ve trained for this so tonight we must move like one.” We slipped out to the garage where two bikes was waiting, their engines purring quietly. I swung my leg over mine and felt the power between my thighs. Jax looked at me, his eyes glowing faintly in the dark. “Stay close,” he said. “We hit fast and leave clean. No hero stuff.” “Got it,” I replied, gripping the handles. “Let’s go steal back what’s ours.” The night swallowed us as we rode out and on the road there was a thick fog which made everything look like a dream.
