I shouldn’t have come down for dinner. My body still ached from training with Jax earlier, and my mind would not stop spinning with questions. But Dante said everyone had to eat together, and I understood that he had his reservations about Vivianne so I pulled on a simple black dress and walked into the dining room. The lights were low and warm and Vivienne sat at one end of the long table, smiling like always. Dante was at the head, looking tired but trying to hide it and Jax sat across from me with his jaw tight, and eyes cold like they had been since that night in the garage.
