CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE
JAX'S POV
From the red dot on my chest to Lena diving in to save me like a super woman all happened in under four seconds.
Immediately I saw the red dot, my instinct was to move but Lena moved faster.
She slammed into my side hard enough to knock the air from my chest and we hit the concrete floor together as the shot cracked through the range window above us. Glass exploded over the space where my head had been positioned one second earlier.
I covered her body with mine immediately. I would rather I get shot than for anything to hurt her.
Two more shots blasted the air, fast and calculated.
Then silence.
I stayed down for three full seconds before lifting my head. The laser was gone and the angle suggested it was a single shooter, elevated and facing the east.
