GAZE

Finally I realized

He turned me around to make me look into his dazzling grey eyes. My blue eyes locked with his once again. And my mind went blank at that moment that what to do now.

His face was just a few inches away from mine. He was towering me with his more than six feet height and bent on me to look straight into my eyes. My breath was going slow at the moment. I was fluttering my eyelids.

He pulled me more towards him and about to kiss me. His minty breath was fanning in my face. His masculine fragrance was filling my nostrils. My lips parted to say something. I pushed him with both my hands after getting my senses that what is going to happen and turned my face.

He jerked me off in annoyance. I felt dumbstruck after watching his action.

Then again he holed me with my both the shoulders. He looked at me with his magical grey eyes intently.

“Scarlett, listen to me carefully. I don’t know what you would think of me afterwards but I want to clear you one thing. I LOVE YOU. And want to be with you no matter what. Since the day you became in my life I never thought about anything after that. You made my life beautiful more than in my colours.” He was speaking his heart out and I was listening to him with my blank mind.

I was looking at him speechless. Then he took my right hand in both hands while pulling it towards his chest.

“Can you please be my girlfriend Scarlett? I know you like me too. But can you give me one chance?” he was proposing me and I went numb on his proposal. He was looking at me for the answer. I had no expressions at all but just continuously looking at him.

Finally, the words came out of my mouth after thinking for long which actually should not come. I cursed my self after that.

“Jaxon, I do like you but.... but I never thought about being in any relationship till now. I always thought you like my best buddy. I don’t know if it is correct or not.” I spat which I should not and start looking here and there but not him.

“It’s OK, Scarlett, take your time. I can wait for you no matter what. And I am have believed in my love that you will be with me soon.” He was looking determined in his words and I was regretting later on.

Then he left the room to go out after giving me a peck on my cheeks which turned red after his soft touch. I was caressing it with my one hand unknowingly and looking at his retreating figure from the back.

Means most handsome hunk of our School proposed me and I rejected his offer by saying I haven’t thought about it, my foot. How many times I dreamed about him in the night full of passion. My brain was scolding me.

It was not like that, I want to die a virgin. But I was afraid of being heartbroken or getting betrayed. This was the reason till now I never allowed any boy near to me. My mom was worried about me very much on this topic.

I too rush behind him after coming on earth back that it was a big palace-like mansion and I may lose. We both came down to the area where our parents were chit-chatting.

“Oh, so both have come. How was the place Sweetie?” His mom asked me with a smile.

“It’s mesmerizing, Agatha. You have maintained it with great efforts. I liked everything about your home.” I praised their home decor. I was sitting next to her.

“Oh, really, then you should come here often. You can come here at any time and can also stay with us.” She offered me with her twinkling eyes.

“Of course, she is allowed to come here as both the kids have good bonding so we don’t have any problem in that.” My father said informally and I was looking at him with narrow eyes. I saw Jaxon from side-eyes. His face was beaming with some hidden amusement.

I left my decision on time.

Later we had dinner in there big lavish dining room.

“By the way Scarlett, I am coming to your home tomorrow my physics assignment is still pending and the after tomorrow is the submission date,” Jaxon said with a wink in my direction.

Like what the.... it was not the first time he was coming at my place and why he was announcing it in front of everyone. He was a big jerk.

I nodded with pursed lips.

After finishing out dinner wine a and dessert was served for everyone. We were sitting in the living room again and chatting on random topics.

“What happened to both of you? Why you are silent at all?” my mother asked me with a frown on her face.

“Oh, it’s nothing mom, just feeling tired. Can we go home now?” I requested her and she agreed to me.

After giving our bid of the good night we left for the home. On the entire way, I was just thinking about what Jaxon told me. Now my mind was in total mess that till now I was thinking of home as my best friend but after listening to his proposal how I will look at him now.

Next day in the morning Jaxon came to my home to pick me up as usual. I was feeling a little awkward now after knowing his intentions but pretending normal as nothing happened.

“Hey beautiful, cheer up girl. I know what you are thinking right now. But trust me I am your friend first.” He said with a known smile. I smiled back and felt a big relief after what listening to him.

We reached our school and one more day ended later with no more happenings. But one thing was roaming in my mind that would I give this relationship a chance ever.

Soon the year was about to end and our finals were going on. I was happy that I did well according to me and hoping to get good results. Jaxon was thinking the same. So we both were praying for best in the finals.

One more year passed slowly ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Finally, it was the ending of high school. Everyone was happy but I am not. In this entire year, lots of things happened between me and Jaxon. Our friendship was on a stake at some moments. I don’t know why I was feeling insecure whenever he was trying to go near to some random chick.

But I don’t want to entangle him with me just to say that I will think later.

Now he was not coming to my home for studies that often he used to come last year.

It was a week since he didn’t come to my place so I decided to go to his home. I called my mom and then left for his place. My driver dropped me there and left. It was a weekend so was thinking to have long study hours.

I entered his house and met with his mother. She informed me that he is in his room. I went upstairs and budge inside his room.

My eyes bulged out when saw the scene in front of me.

I saw Juliana a famous butterfly of the school sitting on the lap of Jaxon and both were talking deeply. When they both felt my presence, they gasped and she jumped off his lap within seconds.

I looked at him with narrow eyes which were having untold questions.

“Oh, Hey Scarlett, meet Juliana my friend and Juliana she is Scarlett.” He introduced her with awkwardness.

“Hello, Juliana,” I said with a scowl on my face.

“Any reason to come here.” He asked he was still gasping for what they were doing moments ago.

“Nothing, I was just getting bored studying alone at home so I thought to come here for that. But you were looking occupied in more important stuff I guess. I should leave now.” I was hell angry on him from inside and turned to leave the place.

He tried to stop me but I left without looking back to him. After that, we casually meet in school only. I changed my place and made myself busy in my studies more earlier.

Our parents to feeling the tension in our friendship but said nothing as it was a matter of us so we can only manage it.

Before final exams, we all have applied for various universities. I decided to go to Oxford university and luckily I got the call from them. So I was happy. I wanted to share it with Jaxon but stayed back to go further.

After finals one day my mom came into my room, I was watching my favourite TV series.

She was looking little tensed up. “what happened, Mom?” I asked casually.

“Jaxon is going to New York for his graduation. I think he will return after completing it only. You must visit him once before going.” She informed me.

I was feeling numb. What happened to him? Why he didn’t inform me about this? It was a very big step in his life and he didn’t tell me anything. I jumped off my bed and changed my clothes. I ran outside to call my driver. Luckily he was around so he quickly took me to his place.

My brain was not working at all. I was crying on my stupidity. After hearing about his leaving I was feeling like the part of my heart is going far from me. I was trying to hold it but it was not in my reach.

When I reached his home, his mom told me that he already left for the airport. I rushed to my car again and instructed my driver to take me to the Airport. On the entire way, I was thinking of our good moments as well as bad ones.
