Chapter 7: Shadows in the Night

The moon cast its silvery glow over the sleepy town of Willow Creek, casting long shadows across the streets. The air was heavy with the scent of blooming flowers and the distant hum of crickets.

Asher and Echo crouched behind a stack of crates in the town's alleyway, their eyes fixed on the old clock tower in the distance. According to Chrono's intel, the Timekeepers were hiding in the clock tower, planning their next move.

"We need to get inside," Asher whispered, his eyes scanning the surrounding buildings.

Echo nodded, her mind racing with possibilities. "I can hack the clock tower's security systems, but we'll need to be quick."

Asher smiled. "Leave that to me."

Without another word, Asher sprang into action, sprinting across the alleyway to the clock tower. Echo followed close behind, her suit's advanced sensors scanning the area for any signs of danger.

As they reached the clock tower's entrance, Asher produced a set of lockpicks and began to work on the ancient lock. Echo watched in awe as he expertly manipulated the pins, the lock clicking open with a soft clunk.

"Nice work," Echo said, impressed.

Asher grinned. "Thanks. Now let's get inside and see what we can find."

With that, they slipped inside the clock tower, disappearing into the shadows. But as they delved deeper into the heart of the Timekeepers' operation, they began to realize that they were not alone...
