A few years later, Milley was going into high school. Milley has always been into the Gothic style but she didn’t want anyone to make fun of her for it. However, she tried to fit in before and it’s never worked. She was determined to make high school different. Milley spent the summers working and saving any money that she could. With all the money that she was able to save she bought her a few Gothic outfits that she always wanted. She also bought her some black makeup and a few jewelry piece to tie up her new look. “High school will be different this year.... I am releasing the real me....I will have no more fear.” Milley demanded.
Later that night Milley laid out everything on her bed that she was going to take and wear to school for her first day. She then went into the bathroom with some black hair dye that she bought and proceeding in dying her hair the darkest black she could find. She washed her hair out real good so she wouldn’t stain her pillow and made sure it was completely dry so she could see the results. Everything had to be perfect for the first day of high school. She looked into the mirror and was thrilled with her hair...it was now long and blacker than a black.
Milley then went to her bedroom to make sure she had absolutely everything ready for in the morning. “yeah I have everything I need” thought Milley to her self as she checked over her items laid out across her bed. Every year everybody tries to outdo each other by having the better trapper keeper. This year Milley simply bought a 3 ring binder with clear cover to put her schedule and drawings in. She added a couple spiral notebooks inside and a couple folders. She had one pen that she clipped to the outside of her binder. She looked over her schedule again trying to make sure she had everything in order nothing could go wrong.
The next morning Milley's alarm went off she jumped out of bed excited. She got dressed in her black pants with the pockets that had graphics of skulls on them. She wore a black tank top with a button up black shirt with flames on it… but left it unbuttoned. She put on her socks and her black boots. She then proceeded to the bathroom to do her makeup. First she put on her black eyeliner making sure it was on nice and thick. Next she put on her black mascara. Then with pride took the jet black lipstick and proceeded to apply it to her lips. Afterwards she took her gauged earrings and put them on. Along with putting her cuff ring in the cartilage at the top of her ear. She then proceeded to put on her favorite chain necklace. Finally she checked herself in the mirror to make sure everything was perfect. As Milley walked through the house she decided to eat breakfast before she left. That way no one could make fun of her eating; and headed out the door.
Milley walks into the school cafeteria and the whole room goes silent. Everybody is looking at Milley in disbelief and shock. Soon the whispers start. Some of them were even saying that Milley was a demon. She was OK with that cause then they are too scared to pick on her. She even heard a couple of guys say she was sexy which was a big boost to her self-esteem. Milley continued walking toward her first class. Some of the other students were quick to get out of her way. She sat in the hallway next to her first class and started to draw pictures. The day went great Milley never felt so good. She was actually able to concentrate on her studies and her grades improved.
One day after lunch Stacy came up to Milley and mentioned religion. Milley had never thought too much into any religion. “Milley you should look into Wicca.” Stacy stated. Milley replied, “What is that?” “It is a belief of energy spells and witchcraft” said Stacy. Milley's got up to head out of the cafeteria. “I will look into it thanks” Said Milley. When school was over she headed towards the bus.
On the bus Milley couldn’t stop thinking about what Stacy had said at lunch. “Could there really be a belief of spells and witches and such?” Milley always enjoyed books and movies with that stuff. Milley does know of several religions and beliefs but has never really followed any. Finding a belief would be a long journey for Milley.
Four years later high school was coming to an end. “Milley can you believe we are graduating high school next week!” Stephanie yelled excitedly. Stacy came running up, “I am going to miss school” she said almost crying. Milley looked at her friends like they were crazy. “I am glad it’s over” she said. “ Well we are to Milley but isn’t there things you are going to miss?” Stacy asked. Milley thought real hard. “The only thing I am going to miss is you guys” She said.
The girls were all talking about all the memories they made in school when suddenly they hear a girl across the room start squealing and yelling at the top of her lungs. The girls turn to find out what the commotion was. “I AM GOING TO HARVARD” She started yelling. The girls turn back to their conversations. “Must be nice to have parents that can afford something like that” Milley said kind of down. “Milley what are you going to do after school?” Stephanie asked. Milley looked down and seen she had packed on quite a bit of weight since middle school. “I am going to lose weight and enjoy myself before I do anything to drastic.” Milley replied. Her friends all started talking about going to college and these big plans they had. While they were talking, Milley drifted off into her one of her daydreams. The dreams keep getting more surreal and vivid like it’s really happening and a voice that keeps saying she is important and one day she will see.
The day has finally come, Graduation Day. Everybody was so excited but Milley just wanted to get it done and go home. She would rather be at the lake daydreaming of what her life could be if she had a better upbringing. The ceremony seemed like it took forever. After the ceremony Milley couldn’t wait to get out and never return. School was hard for Milley she was different but she will soon find out just how different she is.
“ Different isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes it can be the biggest gift of all.”
