CHAPTER 9: THE TRUTH COMES OUT

Edward's conversation with Sophia had left him reeling. He couldn't believe she had stooped so low as to sabotage his relationship with Emily.

He decided to confront Emily about the rumors, to tell her everything Sophia had said. As he approached her, he could see the concern in her eyes.

"Hey, Edward, what's wrong?" Emily asked, her voice soft.

"It's Sophia," Edward said, his voice shaking with anger. "She's been spreading rumors about you, trying to sabotage our relationship."

Emily's eyes widened in shock. "What kind of rumors?"

Edward took a deep breath. "She said you were flirting with other guys, that you were interested in someone else."

Emily's face fell. "That's not true, Edward. I would never do that."

Edward nodded. "I know, Emily. I believe you. Sophia just admitted to me that she's been spreading lies about you."

Emily's expression turned angry. "That's it, Edward. We need to confront Sophia about this."

Together, they approached Sophia, who was sitting alone at a table. She looked up, a mixture of guilt and defiance on her face.

"Sophia, we need to talk," Emily said, her voice firm.

Sophia sighed. "I know what you're going to say. I'm sorry, okay? I was jealous, and I made a mistake."

"A mistake?" Edward repeated, his voice incredulous. "You call sabotaging our relationship a mistake?"

Sophia looked down, ashamed. "I know it was wrong. I don't expect you to forgive me."

Emily's expression softened. "Sophia, why did you do it? Why did you feel the need to sabotage our relationship?"

Sophia shrugged. "I was jealous. I wanted Edward back, and I didn't care who I hurt to get him."

Edward's eyes narrowed. "You're not even sorry, are you? You're just sorry you got caught."

Sophia looked up, tears in her eyes. "That's not true, Edward. I am sorry. I was wrong to hurt you and Emily like that."

Emily's expression turned sympathetic. "Sophia, we forgive you. But you need to promise us one thing."

"What's that?" Sophia asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"You need to promise us you'll seek help," Emily said. "You need to work on your jealousy and your anger issues."

Sophia nodded, tears streaming down her face. "I promise. I'll do whatever it takes to make things right."
