Pulling up to a grey building that looks like it was falling apart. Not a shocker there, this little town was not something I was use too. Yes, in my pack grounds we had our own school and it was nicer than this building. I park my car and grab my things. Before stepping I catch myself in the mirror. Nothing special there same old me, no makeup was the normal for me now. Shacking off my insecurities and get out of my car, after shutting my door I lift my head and come face to face with someone. Taking a step back in shock, I get a good look at this female. Little shorter than my five foot seven, with golden blonde hair that shine perfect with how the sunlight hit it. It almost made it look like she had a halo around her head. Her blue eyes were so light that they reminded me of ice. But that was not a word I would use to describe this girl. Oh no, she was nothing but bubbly. Her small frame bounced from foot to foot while she chewed on her bottom lip trying to contain a smile. Her eyes darting around everywhere without landing on mine.
“So. You are new here?” she asked as a statement. “uh yeah I guess I am,” I replied as I leaned against my car. I have a feeling this might take a minute. “I knew it was you, I could smell you a mile away.” She whispered. “We knew you would be starting today, I wanted to make sure that I got to meet you. I’m Arie from the White Creek pack.” “who is we?” I ask. That is when her eyes sparkle, “My friends and I, no worries you will meet them soon.” She turns to walk away but, stops to look back at me. “Come on girl, you don’t want to be late and you still don’t have your schedule and locker yet do you?” Stumbling over my words I lean off my car and walk with her into the building.
As we rounded a corner, the office sign was not hard to miss, “I will leave you here, good luck today.” She says as she walks backwards down the hall. I noticed how everyone moved out of her way without her even having to say anything. After getting my scheduled, I make my way to my first class. The map is easy to read it’s just two circle that are connected by a square building. My first class is Social Studies, yeah. Yep so not my favorite subject, at least it is not reading first thing. Walking into the room most desk is filled besides in the middle toward the windows. Selecting the middle seat, I start to put my lock inside my book bag and grab my things out. The instructor walks in as I finish up. “Good Morning class,” says the tall man with salt and pepper hair. “Who’s excited to see a different part of the world today?” A bunch of grumbles and groans answer.
Walking out of my first period class, I start searching for my locker. I remember the lady in the front office said it was in the Senior hall but looking at the map I could not find it. Of course, that would have been too easy then. Walking in the circle twice I advance my way into the square part of the school and see the red locker. Yep here it is, number 263 on the bottom. Great. Like my life could get any worse.
Taking the lock out of my backpack I hang it on the door and put my Social Studies book in along with a few other things. I am not one for material things, only a picture of my parents hangs on the inside. A reminder that I am here for them. That is when I get a whiff of the sweetest smell ever. Between cotton candy and peppermint. Something that seems sort of tugging at my memory, I know this smell. But from where?
Standing and shutting my locker, I turn to look throughout the hall. It’s there down at the far end of it. My feet start taking me before I even realize that I am moving. Trying to stay out of everyone’s way was easy since everyone moved to either side of the hall. Being the new girl sucks sometimes. When I get to the end there are double doors that I push through and there is a room straight across the hall from the doors. The smell is getting stronger with each step. I step into the doorway and scan the room. It looked like a shop of some kind. This must be the vocational building. There were not many people in the shop, the steps leading down into the area were not many, but my legs were too scared to take them. The smell was pulling toward the right side of the room where there was a car with its hood up. Half of a body seemed to be hanging off the side while the rest of it was under the hood. Someone was sitting in the front diver seat; I could tell it was their music blaring due to the head war moving to the beat.
My heart was racing, not like fearing physical pain but, more of what am I about to find. Someone shouts and the person inside the car steps out. It is a girl. Long red bright hair hangs down her back, that almost touch the top of her jean shots that have black capri leggings under. For whatever reason she turns, and our eyes connect. I would know those deep green anywhere. Aurora. Confusion turning to excitement runs over her face, just as she starts toward me. I make it down the few steps in no time and we both grab one another in a tight hug.
Oh, it has been too long seeing and being around this girl. Growing up together, all the memories and trouble we use to get into. Us both with her twin brother, Allen, were the devils of my old pack as kids. And now having her and I guess him here is going to make this a hell of a lot easier.
Leaning back, I get to see Aurora up close. Same look just no more baby face. The smirk she is giving me is just like she uses to when she knew what I was thinking. “What the hell are you doing here?” She asks. Chuckling I answer, “Never changing huh A, always so blunt.”
“well, yeah why wouldn’t I be?” she smarts back at me. God how I have missed this girl so much. “I am going to this school now” I answer her.
“Oh, so you are the new female driving every girl crazy with jealousy and every male with a hard on.” She says with such a s**t eating grin that I cannot help but to smile too. By this time, she has put her arm around my shoulders since we are about the same height, I am just a bit taller than her. As kids that would have drove her nuts.
She is walking me back toward the back of the shop, there seems to be a classroom hidden behind shelves of old parts. With three rows of desk, five seats back we find four guys sitting there. One sitting on top of a desk, dark hair nothing but muscles, this guy seems to eat Popeye for breakfast. Another sitting in his seat normal with his legs stretched out in the aisle. He had the laid-back kind of vibe going on. He was light brown hair, close cut to his head with longer laid over to the left. He was twisting a pencil in his hand like a drummer would do with their stick. The one that kind of through me off guard was the guy leaning against the back wall. He had his arms folded over his chest and his black hair falling into his face. His arms were as big as my head I bet. He had to be at least six foot six inches. The relaxed fit of his light color jeans, with his black t-shirt, along with his piercing blue eyes made a chill run down my spine. Man was this male pouring out hotness from him. His eyes never leaving us girls. I had a feeling it was more me.
There was movement out of the left corner of my eye, and I turned my head breaking eye contact with Mr. Hottie, and find myself starring at the same set of eyes that Aurora has. The enthusiasm that I felt was overwhelming. I jumped into Allen’s arms just as he was reaching for me. Two of the people that meant so much to me in this world are now back with me. I felt a piece of me being put back together.
Stepping back from me Allen, thumb wiped from under each of my eyes, I did not even realize that I was crying. “What? How? You are here?” Allen spoke. Nodding my head, “yes I cannot believe you guys are here, how is this even possible? I thought you guys moved far away,” I replied.
“We did to a ten-year-old kid,” Aurora answered. “We moved to help out my mom’s family and have been here ever since.” Allen responded. The tardy bell rung just as I was going to start in on my one hundred questions. Both of their faces, dropped. “What class do you have now?” Aurora asked. Pulling my schedule out I told them I had Geometry. “Oh, that’s not far from here, come on I have Social Studies, I’m on your way.” Aurora replied.
Both of us turned to hurry out of the room to try not to be late for class when my hand was tugged back. When I looked back at Allen, he was so serious, “Please tell me you are here because of something good?” I glanced back to the other guys in the room that were all now standing side by side. Each with a look of concern and worry, all but Mr. Hotness. He was starring a hole through me. “we will talk later I promise,” I answered softly. Knowing good and well the others could hear me as if yelled it. Still I was not up to have that discussion with any of them no matter who they were.
