Beautiful Stranger

Robert's POV

"You'll resume work next Monday, This week should be enough for you to properly organize your plans"

"Oh okay then, fine by me" Amelia replied as we walked into the house

"The men you met at the ball tonight are not your friends no matter how friendly they seemed, they are your competition. I took you there so you could see for yourself the decision you took"

"Yes I understand"

" Good"

"Good night Robert, thank you for tonight"

Looking at her I couldn't wait to leave her, her scent was invading my nostrils and preventing me from thinking properly, I was getting a flirtatious whiff of raspberry and sensual base notes of musk, whipped cream and marshmallow, it made me wonder what she tasted like. Watching her walk upstairs I shake my head to clear my thoughts. "I need whisky" I muttered under my breath, heading to the bar to pour myself a glass.

Dialling the head of the company HR department, "Prepare an office, we have a new employee. She resumes on Monday" Not waiting to hear a reply I ended the call

Juliana's POV

I can't believe Robert agreed to employ Amelia, now they'll be working together. Walking into the kitchen I see Amelia chatting and laughing with the housekeeper as they prepared what I suppose to be breakfast.

"And this is why I'm yet to have breakfast By this time, you both are chatting instead of concentrating on preparing breakfast," I said crossing my hands on my chest

"Good morning Juliana," they both said at the same time

Suddenly having an idea on how I can make her know that Robert was mine I say

"Amelia, Robert requested that you bring breakfast to the room"

"Since you're down here, why don't you take it up? We're done already"

"Excuse you?" I asked in bewilderment making her look up from packing the food

"Any problem?" she asked making me laugh

"Are you sending me on an errand?"

"It's the food you're going to eat, I'm not your maid either, you're down here already, You can just carry it up."

"You're crossing your boundaries Amelia and I'll teach you a lesson," I said taking a step closer to her, She didn't even flinch

"Juliana, I think you're taking what I said the wrong way, I'm not in any sort of competition with you. Notwithstanding, Jane will help you take it up, I'm a bit busy, so I need to eat and go back to work" she replied, grabbing her food and heading for her room.

"Amelia is rude! She talks back to me like I'm a nobody, I don't like her" I say angrily when I get to the room

"You've never liked her from the first day you saw her" Robert replied as he typed on his laptop

"That might be because of the position I caught you both in," I say remembering how I saw him with her against the wall

"Lately you've been nagging a lot, and it's pissing me off" his words were like a punch to the gut "Amelia is hardworking and just wants what's best for her, she doesn't want to be in this situation as much as you don't want it. You can tell from the efforts she's making to escape, unlike some ladies, she doesn't run from work" When he said that he looked up at me in a look that suggested I shut up.

I need to do something, he's beginning to see good qualities in her and slowly comparing me to her. I need to disrupt her work so she gives up on this project along the line. Knowing what exactly I should do I go to the bed smiling, Breakfast can wait, I just need one person in the company to keep me updated and execute my plans and I know the perfect candidate.

Amelia's POV

Five days including the weekend pass in a blur and Monday is here at last. I woke up excited and optimistic, getting ready for work in a knee-length black straight-cut gown and black red bottoms, I went down the stairs with files, my laptop and my bag in hand. Breakfast was served already, eating a bit I rushed out 'cause my cab had arrived and Robert said I'll be presenting my plans to the company today in a meeting by noon, This was 7 am, but I needed to go and settle down then go through my presentation one more time.

"Thank you for the meal Jane, I'll see you when I get back," I say hurriedly

"Good luck" I hear her call back

Getting into the cab he uses the map to take me to the company, I'm using the cab today because it's my first time and I'm carrying a lot of paperwork, I'll use the bus next time.

30 minutes later we arrived at the company parking lot, I paid him and headed inside, giving the receptionist my name and explaining that I was new, she told me to take the elevator to the last floor and I'd find my way from there. Getting to the last floor a lady was there to welcome me

"You must be Amelia, I'm Jessica Mr Robert's Secretary, I'll take you to your office."

"Thank you"

The office was big and I loved the wood vibe it gave. Settling in, I started going through my slides to ensure I left nothing out, minutes turned to hours and it was time for the meeting. Going into the conference room I say a slight hello to everyone and proceed to set up, a minute later Robert walks in with his secretary.

"Are you ready?" I hear him ask as he takes a seat in the middle

"Yes I am" I reply looking around the room at everyone, a technique I learned in school to help me calm my nerves

"Alright then, proceed"

Starting my slide show, I took up the marker and began to write on the board, drawing some diagrams too, and answering questions from members of the board in between the presentations, noticing that Robert didn't ask any questions, he just paid close attention. At the end of the presentation, I heard a round of applause making me look around the room smiling at everyone, When I got to Robert, I noticed that he too had a slight smile forming on his face.

"Well, I think we all agree that, that presentation was nice, well done. A team will be assigned to work with you and they report only to you and you report directly to me, understood?"

"Yes sir, well understood"

Just as one of the board members was about to speak, we were all distracted by the door to the conference room opening, looking up I was struck as I saw one of the most beautiful men I've come across enter the room, Everyone visibly relaxed and and, the ladies readjust themselves, Robert's face is expressionless as he and the beautiful stranger stare at each other

Smiling he says, "It's about time, isn't it?"
