23 - Freaky Friday The next day, Rob had decided to get up early. In the night, among his dreams, an idea to protect the tables from the birds had arisen in his mind. He wanted to try it out before either Josh or Henry came in. He walked on the wooden promenade, relishing the quiet of the morning. The pier looked still and empty, except for the anglers at the very end, their canes, hair-thin in the distance, stretched out. Presently they were packing, bending over cases and zipping their fishing gear in bags. Their path crossed Rob’s in front of the fine arts shop at the middle of the pier.
